Jouch Updates

Hello, it's been a while,

I believe the last update was back in June, which I had mentioned I was slowing down production to prepare for the AusSpeedruns Marathon. Which went really well. The event raised a little over $30k for Game On Cancer. Really cool stuff. Since then I have resumed work on Dawn of the Jouch. It's coming along nicely. Most of August was spent play testing a lot and making sure things were working as intended and fixing/polishing stuff as I found issues.

I want to say the project is sitting around 90% completion. We're hard at work on getting all the sfx and music finalized, final props into the scenes (a much larger task than initially thought in some areas of the game). Saving the last major system (which happens to be at the end of the game) until I have everything else where I am happy with it. Certain parts of the game I may have play tested for a week straight just because I was having too much fun with it.

There had been discussions between all of us at Mutagen Interactive about an October release but ultimately decided not to give it a date yet. Want to make sure everything is how we want it without the pressure of needing it done. We'll post some screenshots of the project in it's current state very soon so you can see how things are shaping up. We're quite proud of it.

This brings us to October...The spooky season. I've had many people mentioned they will need to replay Night of the Living Jouch before Dawn of the Jouch. This got the gears turning and so I dedicated 4 days this past week to completely redoing the code in Night of the Living Jouch, updated a large portion of models, and added some extra stuff to make the gameplay experience fresh for returning players, but also something cool for new players. It better reflects where we are as a dev team, as well as look into how Dawn of the Jouch will actually play and feel. Is it an update? A remaster? A remake? That's up to you. But we are calling it..."Reupholstered".

Friday 2nd October 2026 will see the re-re-release (Yeah it's our Skyrim at this point) of Night of the Living Jouch: Reupholstered Edition.

The game will be a separate upload on Itchio keeping the Double Denim Edition in tact, and the game will remain free (or at least pay what you want).

Thanks as always, we can't wait to share more Dawn of the Jouch info with you.
