A cute and cozy typing game, playable in-browser (only)
Do you know nonograms, or Picross maybe? This game offers this type of puzzle in a retro packaging. So retro in fact that it *is* a modern Gameboy Color game! While it's possible to play it on real hardware, the easiest way is still to get a GBC emulator on the platform of your choice and play!
EDIT: scratch that, you can even play in your browser! Though to me, playing with a handheld device adds a little je-ne-sais-quoi to the experience 馃榿
I have tested it on my Retroid Pocket Flip 2 with Pizza Boy C Basic (an android GBC emulator) and it runs flawlessly. It even autosaves in a way you'd expect from a modern game so there is no friction like there can be with some old games and old design philosophies.
On the purely puzzle side, it is classic nonogram gameplay. You will have to know how to solve such puzzles as the game isn't meant as an introduction to the genre. It has 5x5 grids and goes up from there. Difficulty is fair and progressive as you go up in grid size. The puzzle "results", the picture, is of course pixel art and pleasant to discover.
Special note for the music, which you can pick from a small list, very retro beep boop vibes of good, even great, quality. You can also change the color theme and find one you're most comfortable with.
Oh and... it's free. Crazy quality for the price!
Quite short but incredibly cute!
While standalone, I want to recommend playing First Kiss At a Spooky Soiree first, where Poffin appears as a smoochable character. Just to get a sense of the character in her first appearance.
Mind the content warnings, but good stuff.
If you love Hololive, well... you probably know about this? Either way, you should get a kick from all the fanservice.
The main game is a Vampire Survivor type game where you play as various Holo members that you progressively unlock using coins earned through the main game and other side activities.
You also slowly unlock new skills with each run that you get to use in subsequent runs.
In-between the survival runs, you get to partake in various activities such as hiring fans to generate coins, cooking, and more including a whole Jump King clone.
You can tell the passion put in this game over the years!
