AI tools used (or “None”)
Claude (via Claude Code) — prose drafts, structure, and all of the HTML/JavaScript. No AI image, audio or video tools: the game contains no images and no audio at all.

How I built it / process notes
Design document first: HOME becomes a house you return to. I wrote the fourteen in-world documents before anything else (a repair estimate, a glaucoma prescription, a diary whose handwriting changes, a garden log that keeps going after the funeral, a receipt with a confession on the back), then built the room-and-object shell around them as one dependency-free HTML file. Claude Code drafted prose and wrote the JS; every document was then edited by hand for consistency — dates, the order of discovery, and which clue is load-bearing for which ending. One self-imposed rule: no image, no font, no library, so nothing in it belongs to anybody else.

How does your game use the theme?
HOME is the thing being taken apart. You come back to your mother's house after twenty years to clear it for sale, and the fourteen documents slowly show that the house had stopped being yours long before she died — someone else had been living in it. Shoes by the door, a shopping list for two, a garden log that keeps going for six months after the funeral. The four endings are four answers to the same question: whether a home is the place, the person, or the thing you carry with you. One ending only opens if you have read everything, and in it the title changes from "Homecoming" to "Home".
