How does the game fit the theme?
The theme "Strange Places" inspired the entire concept, which centers on a Science Fiction writer who creates strange worlds in his imagination. It also forms the basis for the story, where the writer has become a hermit, a stranger to the world outside.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
We created all of the visual assets (3D models and 2D sprites), as well as all of the music and voiceovers from scratch during the course of this jam. We used a visual scripting tool (Adventure Creator) with Unity to simplify the development process. We designed and implemented all of the gameplay logic. We sourced public domain sound effects from Freesound.org

Great game! good job :)
Wow! Full clay animation is so unique for a game jam game and you guys did it so well, I also really like the story you guys told in such a short time. My only ask would be that you expand it even more and add a bit more gameplay. I would love to see where this goes with a bit more time and polish!
This game felt like a very personal, tiny passion project, but I think you spread yourself too thin. The work put into the clay look and the voice acting is showing and it's clear you had a strong direction you were aiming for. I think my main issue is that I feel like for you as the creators this all makes sense, but as someone new to this I'm thrown into it without having all the keys to understand what's going on. The game starts and you're just a guy in a room. Of course you can kind of piece things from the game but it's very disjointed. What was the emergency protocol for? What happened with the alien? There isn't really a payoff and maybe it's the point. I think I would have connected more with the game if you had focused on one section, probably the one with the alien which I think had the most interesting gameplay.
Nevertheless, I had a good time and it's clear this is something you're invested in, so I hope this doesn't come off as too harsh, just letting you know how it went for me and giving some tips on ways to have players connect with your story more. Keep it up :)
Thanks for the feedback! We're pretty new to making games, and coming from a visual arts and stories background, so it's helpful to hear critique as we learn how to design experiences that players will understand and find engaging. It sounds like for this one, a little more exposition, context, etc. would have strengthened it. Thanks for taking the time!
is the first minigam actual clay or was it done in 3D as well like the rest? it's super impressive. the game itself is a trip, i'm not sure if I finished it (got the public library request then clicked on the door and got back to the main menu). but I have to emphasise the voice acting is top tier, very very good job!
Thank you! You made it to the end, it's a super short game.
And yep, the spaceship dashboard is actually made from clay. All of the 3D assets are actual clay as well, they just show it a bit less. We started with clay sculpture, scanned them with a 3D camera, cleaned up the scans in Blender, and then applied color / materials in Unity.
Thanks for playing, we appreciate it!
Genuinely insane artstyle (In a good way), I was confused the whole way through until the end said it was based on a book series, which made it make a lot more sense. you want want to change the default window size because some of the buttons were just barely on screen for the first minigame for me. Otherwise great idea.
Thank you! And thanks for the heads-up about window sizing, we'll try to make it default smaller.
i like the unique are style tho as the other comment says, i coudnt complete the first minigame
Thanks for playing! The first minigame relies on waiting until after the VO has finished providing each direction, and then clicking on the button/lever instructed. For the sliders and levers, there's no need to click and drag, just a standard left mouse click.
Each of these spots should be clickable after the VO gives the instruction, in this order:
Please let us know if that's not working, it works when we test it on our end, but we'd love to catch and fix any bugs or problems!
Love the art style and the concept of using mini games to move progress the story. Really artsy vibe
The art style is so cool, and the voice acting is amazing! But unfortunately I wasn't able to progress on the first minigame. After I press the blue button I cant interact with anything on the control panel anymore
Thanks! And thanks for the heads-up about the issue. After the blue button, you should be able to click on the small orange slider just to the left of that blue button (there's a set of 3 sliders on the left side of the dashboard, it's the rightmost one of those three).
NIiice! I was able to complete the whole game. And what a trip! Such a cool story
really cool game i loved the visuals and music
