A really fun game with a great music! Overall I liked the pixel graphics and the music went really nicely with it.
I tried to catch the fish but the timer to enter the keys went too fast for me and would always disappear before I could finish pressing. Was it inspired by Helldivers? Nonetheless an excellent game to chill with!
Hey! Thanks for playing and for the feedback! The rare and legendary fish are, admittedly, very hard. I wanted to have a final challenge that offered some difficulty and actually made the upgrades necessary. I've personally caught every fish... except the shark, which has the shortest entry window for the quicktime event inputs. It is the game's final challenge.
This was my first time making any sort of quicktime event in a game. I learned that there is shockingly little time difference between a trivially easy quicktime event and a borderline impossible one. The difference is milliseconds.
I dialed down the difficulty until it reached the level where it felt slightly too hard for me. I'm older than many in the gamedev space. I figured if it was slightly too hard for me it might be just right for a slightly younger person.
Plus, with one success on a quicktime event you can gain sufficient ground to make up for several failures in a row.
All that said, you are correct -- QTE difficulty would definitely be on the short list of things that would need additional attention it I wanted to make this into a full-fledged game.
really fun and rewarding game, music was fire too
overall, a really fun game! love the concept, visuals, art style, and the music was really nice too! Super fun go at your own pace kind of game. super addictive, laid-back, and really fun trying to catch all of the fish and I enjoyed the little compendium of the types of fish!
Really liked this one. Easy to learn how to play, feels extremely rewarding to get the fish you want, and you don't even have to play a lot if you don't want to. You trace your objective, you complete it, you go, (and have fun in the process). This has insane potential for being a really addictive game.
If you're looking for a comfy and engaging game to play this is it!! I'm definitely not a skilled gamer by any means but I was still able to sit down and play this game for a while! The variety of fish keeps it engaging as well as the journal to keep track of what kinds of fish and the back story! I also immediately fell in with the cactus fisher, a dope little fellow:)
