How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
Chess is often a game of skill and precision. A mental game. Luck isn't much of a factor so I was mainly playing on unlucky sarcastically by making a game that's very skill based.

It’s technically against the rules to use the mouse, but really any other button would work, so ;-). I have to say, you did a great job with the game — it’s fun, even if it’s not that easy."

I liked this! The knight was quite a bit harder than the bishops, although I think I enjoyed fighting the bishops more. The graphics and sound effects were great. The hard difficulty felt a little too much of  a step up, but it could just be a skill issue XD I think maybe if the speed was increased less but you took 2 damage instead of 1 that would be a bit better, as some of the moves felt like they came out too fast to dodge. Great job!

Fun game, the knight was pretty hard, felt the controls were a little slippery.

This is a lot of fun. The controls are generally smooth, and it's exciting to learn how the bosses work. Some random notes from my playthrough:

  • The player was generally fun to control, but the high move speed was a little difficult to work with.
  • I found the knight significantly harder than the bishops. The knight probably took me like 10 tries, whereas I beat the bishops first try.
  • I think the bishop boss would have benefitted from having one bishop move faster when the other is killed, so that you can choose to either target one and fight a harder version of the other, or try to keep their health balanced between them.
  • Some of the controls felt a little unintuitive to me, like using ESC to exit the training grounds, or clicking to change difficulty.
  • Music is nice, and the art is well done.

Although I'm not particularly convinced that this game fits with the unlucky theme, it was an enjoyable pair of boss fights.
