I agree with the controls needing a better explanation. Even if the player should figure it out through playing, the player should still have some kind of guidance from the game.
I like the aesthetics and the mechanics but the movement is tricky for inexperienced players. Maybe it’s my skill issue but I had a hard time with even the beginning of the game.
It looks you forgot about the limitation. The game is original for me. Maybe there are games with similar mechanics, but I'm not a very experienced player, this is my first time seeing this. It was interesting.
The self-bouncing mechanic is interesting, but the controls could really use a slightly better explanation. It took me 2-3 minutes to figure out that i should use mouse to spin my hands and adjust them, and if it weren't for the comment below, I might not have figured out the double jump.
Overall, it's a really fun game, and the main character has a cute voice :)
If there was a game i could choose from this jam to be a full game, it would be this one.
PEAK name (Thought "electric boogaloo" just a reference until i found out that the game also uses electricity as a mechanic) PEAK art, PEAK gameplay, PEAK music (reminds me a lot of Streets of Rogue) and PEAK sequel.
if i were to complain...
The game never tells you you can double jump (thought it was just a thing the fans did) and the final fan physics are weird
also i dont think you followed the limitation well (excluding black is something i've seen in other projects but white too?)
Hey!
As the artist on the project, and to be completely honest, I forgot about the limitation in the final hours as we were working lol. If I could go back, I'd definitely spruce up quite a few of the sprites and environment pieces... but I'm very proud we managed to wrangle everything together by the end.
It's incredibly fulfilling to put a game up alongside everyone else though. Thank you so much for the comment/feedback and giving the game a shot :]
