  • This game was super good! It was technicaly impressive, had good sound effects, and the art invoked that retro feel. The game was a bit easy which took out a lot of the tension, especaily since I knew I could outrun the enemy. I also only ever used the red screen, I almost feel like removing the main view and only having the radar to see by would have made it more interesting. Still super amazing game and I played through the whole thing.
  • There is a "linux build" but it seems identical to a windows build? Slightly confusing inclusion. The game uses a `ctrl` key in it's controls, but I don't have an accessible `ctrl` key :c (ergodox ez keyboard, usually rebind `ctrl` to backspace/"caps lock") I was glad there was an alternative control for crouch though! The head-bobbing was a bit too much for me. Missing glowstick controls info on the controls screen. It ran on Linux with through Proton/Steam! ProtonDB Rating: Platinum
  • All the controls and mechanics were intuitive and understandingable after a well described tutorial. Screen Graphics for the device were exceptional and I love it! Mechanics made sense: Hiding spots were detectable and useful Following the dots to the fuses and fuse box worked and made sense I enjoyed the glowsticks (very useful!) The only mechanic that was unclear was the small dark smoking object. I was not sure exactly what it was. My assumption based on the instructions was that you could bait the enemy into it. But after a few attempts I didn’t have much luck with that. I think the visuals were cohesive and worked well together to tell a story. Levels of brightness were good on all elements for how dark and light ie how helpful each element was. On occasion when going between rooms there's a slight lag/pause moment that stops the character running. Given the time constraints, a single level makes sense and works well, but I think if you were to continue working on the game, it could benefit from being two or more shorter levels. Collecting 5 fuses in one level feels slightly drawn and a little slow and could be snappier if it was 3 or 4 fuses to start. I love the mechanics and want more of the game, but with more variation whether that's a new monster type that shows up on a different sensor, or simply another level set in the basement or attic. All of the mechanics looked nice, worked seamlessly and nothing was superfluous, it was a very succinct and competent game that I thoroughly enjoyed! Fantastic Job!
  • Love the art of this game! I found the gameplay a little confusing at first, and it didn't really have enough depth to make playing for a long time to get used to it worth it. But, I really love the concept! Having to wind up the camera is a really great idea. I think it'd be good if you could see the monster on a different screen than you can see where you need to go, to further incentivize switching between screens.
  • FINALLLY! A GAME WITH SOUND! AND A PROPER TUTORIAL AND STORY SETUP IN THE BEGINNING!!!! Anyways, back to the feedback. This game has really great design, and the style reminds me a lot of the indie games made by Pupper Combo. I really do appreciate the proper control menu, the main menu and the buttons, and the tutorial and plot introduction. Stuff like that is really important to get players hooked and invested in the game, and you guys did a wonderful job at that. Not only that but this is a very well made indie horror style game, it feels and plays just like ones I'd watch playthroughs of on youtube. One design issue I will say is that the switching cameras, picking up and starting the camera power, etc is a lot of controls to memorize super quickly in the beginning, and I believe those controls should be a UI on the player screen somewhere for people to quick reference. I must admit though, I am terrible with horror games, when I saw that monster I like immediately cntrl+alt+delete out of the game in a panic. So, good job on freaking me out! As for the 3D art, I understand the charm of the old TV static look and I am a big fan of those style of games. I watch a lot of Puppet Combo games and I'm familiar with what works and what doesn't. My only critique would be the set dressing of the rooms, I wish there was more story telling in the props. Whether thats scratches on the walls, broken or fallen furniture, messy rooms vs clean rooms, blood stains, anything in that sort of category will give more visual interest. To the team, well done!! This is a great game jam game and you guys should be proud :) Have you guys considered returning to this project post game jam and touching things up?

Successfully freaked me out, I immediately closed the game when I saw the enemy haha

Not gonna lie I forgot for a moment that this was a game jam game.

Given the small amount of time this is actually really well made. The tutorial at the start is kinda long, and I wish it was a little less informative so that I would be forced to figure it out myself, but with the game’s concept it is kind of necessary.

The gameplay is a lot of fun, the visuals look really good, and, despite my previous comment, I like how some of the mechanics aren’t explained so I had to figure it out myself.

My main complaint is that I wish the map had a little more detail to it. It’s currently just a bunch of blank rooms with boxes and tables. I would like to see like a lounge room, or maybe a kitchen or a bedroom, but I’m not sure y’all would have had time for that.

Overall, this is my personal vote for the game jam’s winner. It’s really well made, especially given the small time frame.

PS: The monster must really love me if they’re following me around everywhere. Come here and kiss me shadow man.

This game is a super cool concept and execution, I love the idea and was genuinely scared seeing the enemy for the first time. Sick game, I can't get very far without dying though, but that might just be a skill issue.
