Lots of neat stuff all around! Pretty interesting controls and a fun concept to type to shoot zombies! The actual typing feels good and the audio feels really great when you finish a word! I also like the arrow that points you where to go. If you were to continue working on it, it could be fun to work with level design a little bit more to distinguish different areas from each other and help players to remember important landmarks and work their way towards goals.
There are definitely some things that could be added if there were more time in the jam like letting zombies path around walls. I found they got stuck quite often. Def some polishing that could be done in terms of visuals and QOL but the concept and audio are both highlights.
Thank you for your feedback!
Interesting idea. Kill zombies by typing, but I couldn't handle the controls.
Sorry to hear the controls didn't work for you. If you don't mind me asking, what caused them to not work? Do you have a non-qwerty keyboard layout by chance?
I've always felt like words that can be typed with one hand are super satisfying to input so this scratches that itch quite nicely. However, in these typing games, you can't let the words get obscured by the environment. Those should be always on top.
This is quite clever, and the combat is very fun. Good music.
A few suggestions for improvement:
- The floor has a very nice texture, but the walls have no texture at all.
- Most of the words seem to be real words, but sometimes there are typos (e.g., "DEFAT").
- I don't think there are enough zombies around to keep the action as exciting as it should be.
Thank you for the feedback!
A very interesting concept! Had not the best performance on my end, and i feel like not needing line of sight or range limits to activate words can cause issues, like skipping the whole maze and just skipping to it straight from the start. Otherwise its very unique! never thought of combining tactical shooters with typing games, well done!
Thanks for the feedback! . Do you have hardware acceleration enabled on your browser? That was the issue for one of my playtesters. I agree on the range limits, I actually removed them near the end due to lack of any way to save progress as sort of a makeshit save code.
