When I respawn I just start falling and cant play the game no more :(

It is a fun concept but I just couldn't understand how this sniper works. Sometimes he shoots me while he cant see me. And after being shot, I just can't understand the environment. I think the pixaleted effect makes the vision too much pixaleted. I think it can be a temporary thing which is active just a small amount of time. Additionally, I couldn't add my name to leaderboard after I finished the game because sniper shot me while I was typing my name and then character teleported to last checkpoint. I want to add that I really liked how hands look in the game. Overall, it is a good concept but game can be better with small adjustments.

The game seems quite fun in theory, but it's really difficult to actually play it:

It's pretty hard to understand when the sniper is shooting and the restart button doesn't work as it places you in the center of the hole and you fall to your death, repeatedly.

Also the music is really nice!

Well, a speedrunner would figure it out, wouldn't they? ;)

The restart is an error I forgot to fix: You need to have a checkpoint to return to, otherwise it sends you to the center of the map. Luckily, there is one right in front of the player, you just have to punch the X boxes. We didn't have time to playtest it much. Sorry!

Don't worry, I'll try again!

I figured out I was going it the wrong diurection :)

I played for about 45 minutes now and I really like the movement!

The sliding especially feels really nice.

Howeaver I fel like there are 2 problems, both concerning the sniper:

  • The sniper can shoot while the red laser isn't aimed at you sometimes, wich is really frustrating when that happens
  • The sniper sometime shoots twice in a row, I'm hiding behind a hause, the sniper shoots, I get out of the house, and I immedially get shot again! That's pretty frustrating.

45 minutes, wow! You played it more than us. Regarding the problems:

- You need to watch out for the laser. There's a cooldown if the sniper hits you, but not if they miss. If they get their sights on you, they shoot. But outrunning the laser is too easy, so it also locks onto you every 15 seconds automatically. Basically, every 15 seconds, hide, then just outrun the laser, which is pretty slow. For the time we had, I think we got the tension and pace about as good as we could, but obviously it can be way better.

ohhh

ok!

If you plan on updating the game I suggest to place some sort of indicator on when the 15 seconds are about to end, like a red bar that times the shots or some sort of sound indicator when you are 5 seconds away

We do this for fun so we like leaving the games as is. All the faults and problems are comedy fuel to look back on the time we spent on it, like a photograph of the journey.

Although! I think we should probably incorporate some accessibility features on our future endeavors, since in this one you rely on sound to know when the sniper shot, but a warning would make the game easier, which was not our goal. Game balancing is a complex art, and since this was a speedrun themed game jam, we erred on the side of trial and error rather than a more "player friendly" approach.
