Design Statement
After listening to the soundtrack, some of the core themes our team took away from it was mystical, lore/story and a bit whimsical. We interpreted the soundtrack as an underwater theme, and after doing some brainstorming with the whole team, we decided to make the mechanics of the game similar to a 2D side-scroller, but instead have it vertical, to fit the underwater theme. We also thought it would be pretty unique to have the gameplay flow go from bottom to top.

For some of the main narrative features, we decided to go with a classical hero's journey, where the protagonist has to save the world by saving puzzles. We were very inspired by deep sea creatures, and tried to design the world to be a bit mysterious and scattered shape motifs in our designs. We also incorporated some subtle storytelling into our puzzles to incorporate worldbuilding.
