Love the idea! Castle/tower defense games are one of my favorite categories. Feel like you are onto something good! I wouldn't give up on it. The cannon animation is odd, I don't do 3D animation, but in pixel/sprite terms it looks like a copy of frame 0 stays while the rest of the cannon animates on top of frame 0. :)
