when creating a new character there is a small box in it I can type numbers, but then nothing happens. 

How do I use the seed cheat? 🤔 ❓️ 🤔 

Is there a specific thing it takes to activate this option?

The seed number typed into the box determines the map layout. Usually, the map will have a random layout. If the same seed number is used when creating different characters, the map layouts will be the same.

Seed isn't really a cheat, but can be used to get the same map across different playthroughs.
