Gather unknown signals from deep, silent space · By
My main suggestion has to do with my only real problem with the game: the controls used to interact with objects in the game.
Currently, they feel kind of counter-intuitive. For example, the number of times I've wanted to use the hot-bar to ready my crow bar only to realize that I can't because my pointer is over something else in the game world is too high to count. Here's what I'm thinking would make for a simpler and smoother experience:
- Press E once to collect items in the world. They go straight into the player's inventory.
- Press and hold E while the crosshair is over an item to pick it up and hold it, for the purpose of moving things around the physical world. This could be restricted to only working when the player's hands are empty.
- In the player's inventory screen, they can set specific items to specific spots on the hot bar. There could also still be a Use button for using whatever consumable item (like food, or batteries), a Drop button to place the item at your feet, a Place button to put the item where your crosshair is, and an Examine button to get more information about something in your inventory. Maybe equipped items could just have a big letter E next to them, and be pushed to the top of the player's inventory list, rather than disappearing to a separate inventory screen.
- While using an item in your hands via the Inventory / Hotbar system - or while holding an item physically in the game world - press T to throw the item, or press G to place the item down more gently. Press R to empty the player's hands but keep the item in their inventory.
As an unrelated-to-inventory-management suggestion that I still think would be interesting, maybe make the codes to the front entrance and security room be randomized each time you start a new game.
- Hidden Reputation system with Kerfus(O)
- A way to upgrade Kerfus(O)'s AI and make Kerfus more "sentient", where Kerfus can make their own decisions: say no, decide to be your friend or hate you, become your ally or helps the "enemy" to sabotage you, help protect you or joins in with the enemy.
- More ways to take care of Kerfus(O) when he gained "sentience", more idling / free time / hobby things to buy or build/craft for Kerfus(O) to use. Furniture and Beds to craft / build for them. Maybe even be able to give Kerfus their own room.
- A "BFF"-Necklace for KerfusO to wear.
- A way to be able to toggle Kerfus(O)'s light without the PC.
Suggestion: Physical upgrades
Upgrades which must be physically slotted into a part of the base, and can be broken or destroyed. I think this would be best for consumable boosts, since it allows you to take on an extra errand (Refilling/replacing the boost) in exchange for a more efficient base. It could also be interesting if they were permanent but had tradeoffs, making them more difficult to switch on and off.
I think this would be especially interesting if it was an outdoor thing, requiring you to leave the base to keep things running at peak performance.
- - For example - -
New part: Motor regulator
"CONSUMABLE - A fragile device which more efficiently controls the movement of the satellite dish motors (Speeding them up). Breaks periodically, and must be replaced or repaired with a toolbox. Must be installed on the transformer station outside of base. "
This part would make your satellites rotate faster, but would be pricey and time-consuming to repair, forcing you to be efficient with your signal-collecting

I think you should add a way to end any event that is happening with a console command or make it so a new event will end your current one. It is quite irritating having to lose hour(s) of gameplay because you couldn't save due to an event not ending correctly, or just not knowing how to deal with the current one. Also genuinely love the game. I need more collectables.
False Kerfour omega event. On a random day, kerfour omega (if it was created by the player) begins to behave strangely, does not run errands, follows the player, breaks servers, turns off electricity. At some point, it may even attack the player. And if you open the kerfour camera, you can see that the original kerfour is closed somewhere outside the base
The interaction overhaul detailed earlier in this thread would help so much in making the game controller accessible. I've tried to use third party compatibility tools for controller/gamepad use and the main obstacle really is the absurd amount of buttons used to deal with objects. Contextual usage prompts would go a long way to making this game playable for a lot more people, even if native gamepad/controller support isn't implemented.
The consoles could pose a problem, but as there doesn't seem to be free text, a sort of radial menu would work well for it. For the maths problems, an onscreen numpad (either as a square menu or as another radial menu) would suffice.
- A regular (cheaper) and armoured (expensive) camoflague military suit (green, tan, brown, arctic, autumn...), which allows you to better hide and sneak from "danger" and other "things", and allows you to even sneak towards "stuff" undetected. Armoured version protects slightly from falling and tripping, stabbing, punching damage.
- A Can of Mace (Pepperspray) for basic self-defence (beware of the winds direction, lmao)
- A Swiss Pocket Knife (super expensive brand knife) with like 20 different functions (I mean hello, we're in switzerland but no swiss pocket knife???!!)
- A Taser (melee range and one that shoots those taser needles, more expensive)
- A Water Boiler and Cup Instant Noodles
- A wireless Gaming Controller with analog sticks + Add the function to allow the TV to play emulators like Duckstation, PCSX2, SNES9X, etc.
- A laser pointer (those cheap gold ones from fairs) as defence against REDACTED
Reset the signals / days/ garbage separately from each other. So that the base and transformers, or other cleaned places, remain clean.
This will make it much easier for players to transfer saves (with any places removed). After all, players will no longer have to spend time cleaning up again if it is possible to transfer saving to new versions in the future.
