solid game, but it feels like there's not enough you can do to avoid the bulls, and the other enemies are perhaps too easy
I personally might be more interested with more speed & reflex based mechanics or some other thing that balances difficulty

How does your game fit the theme?
You change the weather from calm to storm and back by collecting an orb
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
No, SFX , music, some icons and some small parts of code were not by me.

A fun game with lots of potential.
1. The art is great, everything looks purposeful and is designed well and TONS of great animations. The lid (mouth) of the trash can opens wide when hit, the bull readies himself and charges. The animation for the bull is especially good because he communicates his attack to the player well before charging. The player character is also well animated with a good strike attack
2. The enemy variety is nice, i love seeing lots of different enemies in these types of game and even though I got as far to see three enemies (is there more) I felt like that was already plenty of variety because of all they acted. The slime was your typical beat up enemy. The trash can used verticality to attack, sometimes flying high to jump over me and sometimes flying up to pound me several times on the head. The bull attacked horizontally in contrast to the trash can, I really enjoyed their different movement styles.
3. I felt the gameplay stage was too long and could have been cut in half even. I spent a lot of time running back and forth, the orb is jsut in a random place so it was easy to forget about.
4. The changing of the weather was on theme but didn't provide much gameplay addition for me. But the shift weather was still a nice idea. I would have liked to see something like your character is slower but more powerful in the sun, but faster and weaker strikes in the rain and make the ability toggle on a button. Line the calm/storm up with one being better against a certain type of enemy than the other. The vision change was hard to identify if it was beneficial for me or not in game.
5. The bulls are very powerful and make the game tough, bad for people like me who suck at games, but I'm sure there are some jammers who really liked that extra challenge!
6. Music is good, I was bopping along
Keep jamming, I liked this one
Thanks for the in-depth feedback lol.
1. I spent way too long on art to be honest (I suck at art)
2. Yep, three was max and I would've really liked to add more enemies if I had the time, but drawing art takes too long for me (again I suck)
3. Well, the orb was actually in the middle of the level, but I suppose when the map is so long it feels kinda random.
4. When in calm mode your health slowly decreases (cuz player character is a ghoul) and when in storm mode there is a growing huge wind pushing you to the right. And tbh I would've really liked to add more advantages and disadvantages if I had the time, but I was rushing to think of those, which means really really bad ideas. And yeah, I did think about weather based enemies (but again i suck at art)
5. Yeah they're really tough probably much too tough tbh...
6. Yep, the music is by Heatley Bros on YouTube, they make some seriously good music that can be used for free commercially with attribution lol
Fun game!! liked the weather changing aspects! might be a small hitbox problem with the bull I could run at them and they would not hurt me.
Good submission! I like the art, especially the enemies and I like the idea of being able to switch between modes at will. I'll second what some other folks have mentioned that the bulls are maybe a bit too hard to fight, but I found the other enemies on the too easy side. Good work!
i had some fun with this. there are quite a few things i would change.
storm/no-storm modes should be more impactful, and switching should be instant and/or on a button press. as is, i just stayed in storm the entire time, because changing took too long and calm felt bad.
movement was far too imprecise. jumping felt kind of off, like, i never really wanted to jump because it usually just got me hit. the character felt too slippery, and enemies took maybe one too many hits each.
the art was beautiful. i really do apreaciate the animation on the main character.
this was harsh i know, but i promise can see the bones of a genuinely fun experience here.
Thanks for the feedback!
Yeah the weather switching mechanic should've been more impactful with better thought out disadvantages and advantages (like healing in storm mode which i didn't get to implement lol)
And yeah many people complained about the jumping and controls, which is a problem on my part for sure, and I should've let more people playtest it (but unfortunately I had no time, I couldn't even finish playtesting my entire game before submitting)
As for the art, thanks for liking it lol, I suck at art and spent too long on it, which was probably part of the reason I couldn't playtest properly.
And well, you're not really that harsh, all of these are just genuine feedbacks that would make my game even better lol.
Good enemy design! I like the light acceleration physics on the player, and I also love how being able to knock enemies into other enemies plays into that mechanical theming. The controls are a bit tight for keyboard.
I enjoyed this! It was fun, I liked how you got to choose whether you wanted to be in the calm or the storm, and the enemies clearly had their own unique AI. I liked the visuals and it fits the theme really well.
Really enjoyed the art style and animations. Gameplay was fun, I liked swapping back and forth between calm and storm, good use of the theme. Great work! Congrats and good luck!
Nice! I like the concept of the player having to decide which mode to be in depending on their current circumstance, however I feel like each mode could be expanded a bit e.g. Allowing healing during the storm mode, but attacks are slower.
The art is well done; each enemy has their own personality, which is also reflected in their attacks and movement patterns.
I feel like the general movement & combat could do with some tweaks to feel a bit tighter.
Well done on the submission! :)
Changing weather was an interesting mechanic. The trash can enemy is funny lol. Cool game!
The evil trashcans weren't an enemy I thought I would be facing. Good job on the game. It's fun and engaging to play.
Consider me flexing over the others in the comments because I beat it :P
The lopsided movement speeds were interesting during the rainy weather mode (which I stayed in the whole time as it doesn't drain health.) Though it made bulls pretty annoying to fight legitimately. Luckily I didnt have to because if you press up right against them before they charge, and keep moving in their direction as they charge, they don't damage you.
You gotta grab the bulls by the horns, if you will.
Also when a round starts, just stay still for a bit as the enemies kill each other. Makes each wave easier.
Using those methods I cleared the waves p easily. Game was fun! I liked the creativity of the enemies and how they literally rained down from the sky. Each clearly has their own AI which works hand-in-hand with their visual design to really give them a sense of character.
Well done.
Bulls are pretty tough to fight :(
Good job on the game though I couldn't beat it, pretty difficult
Love the gameplay! but its a little bit too hard in my opinion. But its okay! Its still good..
Would love if you check my game too :D
Nice, simple, and fun. Love the different enemy types and their patterns. Hitting a trashcan from below sends it into space (very awesome). The only thing I'd want to see is different ways for the player to attack.
Yeah, I originally wanted to do four player attack animations and an ultra tornado attack where the player spins. But in the end because of time constraints (and my bad art skills) I only made two animations aka up slash and down slash and in case you didn't know the up slash can be triggered by hitting space two times which would trigger the down slash then the up slash follows immediately after.
