Loving the visual style and the ability to respec in the middle of combat (I'm a sucker for flexibility in games), the only thing that is making me scratch my head is I'm not sure of the best way of determining an enemy's weakness other than throwing different things at it and hoping for the best. Other than that I really like what you've got going on and I hope to see what else you have in store for this game if you revisit it. Kudos!
The art is so cute
nice turn based game
Hee-ho. Interesting idea with reset skill in run time. Nice game
Great idea-I liked the concepts of swapping in and out of skills.
This game has so much detail to it considering it was made in such a short space of time. I actually had to think carefully about what to do, and I can see that fans of turn-based RPG's are going to love this game. The music is really nice, and well produced. The sound effects are crisp and clear, whilst also being approaite for the actions they serve! This is the best game I have rated so far - good luck!
Game has a lot of content really, well done, and all assets made from scratch It is impressive.
Here is my submission if anyone wants to check: https://abdullahsevin.itch.io/allican
Interesting game. Good job for creating it in 7 days!
Can create a turn-based system in 7 days, very bold, very impressive
This was a lot of fun. It felt like an interesting more active take on turn based combat. I thought being able to respec whenever was cool and having to respec for different shield types made some of the later fights more interesting/challenging. The art all looks great I love the design of the character and enemies, what's not to love about a mouse attached to a balloon?? I think I would've preffered some way to make skills auto attack when the cooldown ended, I played most of the game just pressing QWER the whole time while I paid attention to what skills I should be specing into. Great job on this it's very cool!
also the beetlejuice pic gave me a good laugh.
Great turn base game, I liked the game art
Nice idea having the tree with the different abilities and enchantments. And being able to reset and do different combos.
However, having to mix and max and change them mid battle is tricky. When a new foe appears, I need a few seconds to work out what format to set up. When the shield is in play, I needed to change back and forth a few times, taking hits while I do this.
Also, no idea how I finished with no acorns :P.
I did however enjoy the game. It was unique in its gameplay, and the art and Music was nicely matched to the mood.
Great job bringing this together in a week.
The game is presented well but isn't super responsive so it can be hard to tell exactly what's going on. Like I got to the mouse and by the time I tried all my spells I died, and only then did I realise I probably should've used to slingshot, but to be fair to word "spell" and "cannon" implies it should've been ranged anyway. It's just an issue of communication. That said, this was still one of the better games of the jam and the resetting tree idea was interesting.
He most likely had the leaf elemental shield up protecting him. On the itch page there is an explanation on how to beat the shield.
Thanks for playing!
loved the audio and design I'd be interested to see you continue to develop I love the concept.
I think the artwork was super great and I liked the music. The RPG skill system was interesting. I thought it was cool. I would vibe out in a town of the little critter characters like Rolig
This is a neat game! I really like the art, especially Rolig who is super cute. The gameplay has a surprising amount of depth and strategy to discover, but I would have liked the cooldowns to be a bit lower. Combat felt slow, and I felt like most of my attention was on my build while I just pressed buttons whenever things came off of cooldown.
Yeah, it was tough to balance because all the systems needed to be in place before we could do any balancing. There's still some tweaking to be done but glad you enjoyed it!
Artwork is really wonderful in this game. I also like the gameplay. It reminds me of Pokemon. Great submission.
Still couldn't get past the first elemental shield. I followed the instructions and it kept doing zero damage. I kept respecing and tried every elemental enchant on it and nothing was doing any damage. I pressed E to enchant first, then attacked. Is that not right? Looks really cool otherwise though, I like the skill tree system and the sprites.
Did you do the opposing element? If the shield is Leaf, try to enchant with fire :)
Hey, you'll need to unspec the elements after to start doing damage again. The intention was to get the player to have to respec instead of keeping the same skills. Its not a common system so i can understand the confusion, you're not the only one :)
Thanks for playing though!
Oooooh ok, I get it. That does sound cool.
The art is phenomenal and it would have been perfect if the original background was present in the final version. Nonetheless, the gameplay is very interesting, the real time preparation of skills, reseting the skill tree and planning accordingly makes it very challenging, yet super fun. Never saw something similar, so props to that! Might come back to earn that first spot on the accorn count later!
Thanks for the lovely feedback! We plan on taking into account peoples feedback and release a more polished version after the jam, so stay tuned for that as well
