Hiya! I am loving the new update, but I have noticed something. Shadows tank the game's performance. I manage with about 35 to 50 fps while im in base with shadows on 1. When set to 0, I get a buttery smooth 60 fps. I don't remember having this bad of performance issues on Version 0.7 or 0.6. Does it have to do with the way shadows are drawn?

Also thanks for adding the Moon!

The 0.8.0 changelog mentions some changes to shadows (don't know if in general or for performance) so it could be related to that, The 0.8.1 changelog mentions better performance so it might help/fix this.

Thanks, ill try it out!

i am definitely gonna buy this when it comes to steam cannot get enough of this game it's like house flipper and gmod with some hl elements to it i am glad i  donated 5 dollars to them even if it was a free game love this game and hope to see it on steam!

My save is stuck at 52 days, I can't reset the days, everything just stays the same. I can create a new save on day 56. Optimization is very bad, the more you are in the game, the more FPS drops (My PC: GTX 1650, I3-100 F, 24GB RAM) most of the problems come from consecration

The story's day doesn't go up further after story completion, you would have to convert it to infinite.

0.8 is neat...I mean, every build is neat lol. Anyways, I have a suggestion: Hability to 3D print animated meshes. I know it may not be possible but worth the shot :3

It would be nice to add a button to switch the game to windowed mode. Very necessary thing because the game does not always want to be in windowed mode when combining keys. Also rocks fly in the air that can not move on the map. Sometimes there is a lag that the signal on the frequency radar is but the picture shows that the signal is not. Sometimes happens when fixing the server line from the digit to the digit disappears. And Kerfus when going to the satellite O at the top of the stairs at the door he flies out as a springboard, sometimes stuck in the base of the satellites can not drive on them.

hi mrdrnose I really like your game it’s addictive for 50 hours even though I’m from Russian I’m very friendly although not very sociable I want you to promote yours everywhere you can in any language in any country in any part of the world and please fix it in Russian empty messages, most of the lore goes to those who do not understand English or another language

The game is an absolute banger. There are a few things that could improve (optimization for example), but it's insanely fun.  I know that multiplayer is a big pain in the ass in terms of game dev, but holy shit would it be fun in VotV. I'm really excited for 1.0

completed story mode earlier today! yay!

i just wanted to say, the pressure washer you can buy from the store is kind of lame. the capacity is too low and you can't refill it from water buckets or mop buckets. would like to see this changed.

Please optimize this game more. Somehow. Nothing makes it look like it would be so performance heavy, yet my 1050 graphics card only runs it at ~40-45 fps with 95% res and everything else off. I can run RDR2 at 50-60 fps on medium settings.

I have a friend who would also like to enjoy the game with a weaker graphics card but can't (getting below 20 fps).

Please. Performance should really be a high priority for the future.

Zombie Kerfus is vastly overtuned, it has 2-3 times as much health as it should. Scared the hell out of me the first time but after 30 deaths I'm just abandoning the game. Tried everything from trapping it in the incinerator, explosive barrels, running it over in the ATV, trapping it in a river, throwing saw blades, and just slugging it out with medicine and the crowbar and I haven't survived phase 3 once.

I get you want this to be scary but an enemy this overbearing in a game where 99% of the time you're looking at screens and your only real weapon is melee shouldn't be a thing. Either give the player more ways to fight effectively or tone down the HP on bosses. If anything I'm hearing that there are bosses that are even stronger which is concerning.

(+1)

The main issue with changing the health is then the other better weapons would make the fight even easier.
You either leave the stronger melee weapons untouched but then the fight would be way easier with them.
You could also nerf the stronger weapons, too, which is honestly fair. 30 damage compared to the crowbar's 10 at the cost of a bit slower swing speed (doesn't even affect it being better) is a bit much, I feel it will make the post-nerf boss(es) kind of a pushover from what I am seeing.

i saw a bush somewhere that was floating :P

i forget where, but i think it's near one of the satellites close to the base

I keep getting this bug where my drive port gets broken and i cant put any drives in the drive port, please fix this :(

By default, Nvidia's "alt+r" combination is occupied. I would move the default throw from "r" to "g"

Just reassign the keys

I understand the point of the splash screen at the start warning of various phobias and possible flashing. But can that be made skipable with an option or perhaps not appear after you accept for the first time? I'd even take getting rid of the 'I accept' prompt and replacing it with a 5 sec timer. Just slows down starting up the game and it's annoying to read time and time again.

I'd also like to echo other suggestions on finishing up the base changes in regards to the open roof in the garage no longer really serving a purpose with the drone delivering outside. Perhaps move the dome over it and convert it to a lighthouse-esque building with a trap door in the garage? A retractable door for larger deliveries or special deliveries? I do like the drone delivering outside though.

There's also a hollow stump near the base and river that has a barrel containing around 50 MRE's. Upon jumping into the stump, I was unable to exit it as I couldn't jump high enough to climb out. I eventually gave up and no clipped out. May need a false step similar to what the shed with the shovel got to prevent getting stuck. Unless you're supposed to be stuck with no chance of escape.

Thanks for the game. Pretty fun.

Okay finally gonna write more in detail after having played seemingly several days even on the last day.

-Great new terrain! Would like the new trees to go with it. Makes me memorize and characterize the landscape better. I do think it needs more rocky/nature assets in order to hide imperfections of the jaggedy parts of the new terrain. Oh right, its fairly jagged looking and feeling in a lot of places.
The new terrain is great, it makes the environment more memorable and recognizable, just want the new trees to go with it. It is still jaggedy in a lot of places, if anything those places could use more nature assets.

Mushrooms are a lot harder to spot, and the new smokes from the Transformers make it possible to navigate. The wind turbines are kind of pointless at the moment, but they do serve as a good landmark from anywhere.

-New upgrade prices are really good although would need some more upgrades. There are certain upgrades that are kind of useless, like the radar history one (I always sell that). The increase in prices are good, but not so good for upgrades that arent that great. Resulting in tactically figuring out what is good, what is not. So some more pricing balancing would be appreciated towards those that are fairly useless. Might I suggest ATV handling upgrades? What about door upgrades? Dont really know what those would do but it an expansion in what we can spend our points on would be better than having to spend 16 points in the same thing.

-I still do not know if trash selling has been nerfed. I wish it is not, especially since you can shovel garbage for more useful trash. I think a trade off where selling the trash means you loose out on potentially great crafting material but get points. Speaking of! Let us buy crafting books! Yes! Books that give you some things you can craft. Like, a book that uses lots of paper scrap for some decorations you can craft, or a wood scrap one for survivalist thing, or furniture. Of course as well for metal and what not.

-I like the new transformer buildings, they have some diversity now and are personified. But especially for the satellites. Especially-ESPECIALLY the furthest satellites. They need some personality, maybe one of them had a guy stationed at it at all times, maybe another is heavily barricaded, and another has a fence and working on its platform, and maybe, one has a door under it that leads to somewhere with the use of the keycard that you find, oOOoo!

-The pacing of the days do start to feel incredibly slow and bare after day 30-40+. At this point, you do get used to the game, and are subjected to the invasion of those glowy suns. I do not know what plans there are for the hole and going in it, but after being subjected to this invasion, you are stripped from this invasion and it all gets peaceful, and boring again. This happens again with the pigs, and the roaming boss. Its the same, but maybe more appropriate.

My suggestion would be to have another visitor, maybe unfriendly, that is making some kind of progress. It does something in one part of the map, and it will do something else in another part of the map. Not a real entity, more like some environments update and leaving behind traces of evidence to it. It does something new per day when the player finds each thing. The cue may be a sound, or a light, or something that gets the player to investigate (Satellite gets downed for instance). You know, something that makes the world feel like something is happening, rather than just, random. The Arirals visiting is probably the only thing similar to this.

-The boss sucks. Straight up. After 3 days of prepping to get at him...
I found him outside of the radar, flipped out in the river near the start. So, I took out one fuel can off of him, then he spun too fast to do it again. So I gravity gunned him out, had a fair molotov cocktail sunlock fight (Really annoying that it does not hit it), did some damage, and it flipped out again, and then I ended his misery however I managed. What a boring boss thing. I can assume, Arirals would lend us their gun (for real this time) to use it against him after a few days, but that would take away the pleasure of doing it yourself. Hooks didnt work against him, many other tools didnt work. It just sucked fighting against him. Would be funny to pin him against a tree like spiderman and his victims with hooks and have him just be there forever as part of the forest.

-Need more signals! Interesting signals, mundane signals. Even on my first playtrough in 0.7 Ive come across many of the same signals. Most of the game has you finding signals and it is what rewards you, would love to make signal hunting interesting again. But how about more unique signals, notes, locations that have something to do with each other. A note that points to where one should scan and how many times for a signal that can activate/give something.

Other than bad kerfur/O-Kerfur pathing now, some few buggy events, crumbled/paperscrap not being able to be used for molotov etc. This is a 'good' update. If this is 0.8, then 0.9 and 1.0 is going to be a huge leap cus, you dont have the new trees yet, satellites still feel bare, lots of the story is not revealed yet. I just hope that there are not many moon-logic discoveries. The CotL plushy and how to get it? Crazy elaborate for something so... disappointing? I get why you have some of these crazy moon-logic, hard to find things in the game, so that people talk but... that, ruins the mystery :| You kinda want people to discover and engage with the game themselves, not find these tidbits on youtube.

(-1)

Hope we can add an option to allow people to pause during events. I have autism and the sounds and triggers of events can be very overstimulating. having the ability to pause during them would be helpful in allowing me to decompress and process things before continuing. I understand that for some feeling trapped in the moment enhances the experience of these events but for me it can make it difficult to play. So I hope we can get a default off option to help in this regard as otherwise I love the games calm but uneasy atmosphere

Would love it if we could do "more" in the woods than just run around and fix server and transfo. Like maybe put out fires or clean up after aliens that sort of thing (yes like a park ranger)

The day we get that lawnmower the day I can truly live

(-2)

Also, would be really cool if you added more to the Interlope mystery (like maybe let us put the command in the console)

(1 edit) (+2)

I don't know if someone has already suggested this or how doable it would be to implement, but it would be neat if we could get some kind of wristwatch that lets you know what time it is without having to nail a clock to the ATV or carry one with you
