But they have not updated the itch version despite being a newer version.
itch has version 0.9.6

Patreon have 0.12.2
Both of this are free so there is pretty much 0 reason the newer version is not updated here

That's not true; you can download v9.6 for free either here on Itch.io or on Patreon, but anything higher than that requires being a Patron who pays 5 dollars or higher. Their last update was in June, July-ish so I'm not sure they are active at the moment.
