I'm impressed by how many mini games you were able to fit into a game jam. Love the UI and how you can move windows around and see the interaction with the other games. I really liked the fish games, wish we had more to do with the cooked fish afterwards!
I wasn't sure what to do with the pickaxe in the top right minigame though, it just swung at empty air? Was I supposed to complete something elsewhere?
Congratulations on this game though, would love to see more!
Hey! Thanks for playing! I appreciate the kind words.
The fishing / cooking minigame was my favourite to implement for sure, I love how seamlessly they connected. I could honestly see myself taking the basis from that and converting them into their own thing. The Ice Packer was also really nice to implement because I started with "I have no idea how to do this" and piece by piece it came together.
As for the pickaxe game, its just a button masher. Mash until the ice is in pebbles, and then it slowly regenerates.
Remind me to never be an office worker in the Arctic for GWJ Inc. I lost so fast that I didn't even finish a single ice block shipment.
I do wonder what the point of the 3D environment was, though, since it seems like your computer is basically all you need as an office worker. I'm assuming that you ran out of time - what else did you have planned for the 3D environment that you didn't get to?
Haha, GWJ Inc is pretty harsh :p
Yeah, I wanted to get some experience with 3D, I was hoping to add some other tasks outside of the screen like having the power go out and such. Just wasn't able to get it all implemented. Thanks for playing :)
I played it before the rating period and just now coming back to it. Lots of surprising variety in all the minigames and they come together really well, finding out some of the minigames were connected was a fun surprise.
Also as a fun tale the first time I played it, I immediately pressed the red button and then began looking around going all 'oh what did that do?' only to eventually come back to the computer and have a bit of a realization. Oops! It was pretty funny though. Very enjoyable game
Haha, yeah I wish I had more time to flesh out the 3D space but I was running out of time and didn't have experience with it yet, I expected some people to see the button and go "OH RED BUTTON - press -" 😂
Thanks for coming back and playing once again!
One of the few games that brought 3D in the browser to life. Well, more cute looking 2D-in-3D, anyway. Impressive what you came up with in such a short amount of time. The variety of minigames keeps you engaged for quite a while, even though i couldn't really discover my higher purpose, I enjoyed the arctic atmosphere and serving sushi.
Maybe the higher purpose is the friends we made along the way... (I didn't get to implement an end game so its just survive as long as you can haha). Thanks for the kind words, and for playing!
What I've learned here (or confirmed, really) is that I don't deal well with high-stress environments requiring multi-tasking. And you've done a great job creating a high-stress environment.
It's a bit of a shame that you have a 3D environment but it doesn't really (near as I could tell) figure into the game at all though? I'm guessing that's just you running out of time.
And yes, we did use the same desk :]
Thanks for playing! Yep, the main goal was to make something overwhelming, I'm glad I seemed to achieve that haha.
As for the 3D environment, I was hoping to implement more but I've only worked with 2D stuff until now, so it took a lot of learning to get things working as I wanted and didn't leave a lot of time for fleshing that part of the game out, but I learned a lot!
I really liked the idea, the execution of the windows on the desktop was great too! I found it a bit difficult to get all the tasks done in time, but I guess I'm just a bit slow in this type of game hehe
Congratulations, this is a very interesting entry!
Thanks for playing! Don't worry, I intentionally made the game challenging and overwhelming haha. I sadly made no endgame, just survive as long as you can :p
Nice idea! I expect a polar bear come eat me when I lose :D
I liked the clicker games, and it all had very retro-vibes, like some Windows games from 90s :) The room itself was a bit off thought - it was way to different. I guess the point was to make a feeling that there is nothing else to do here, in arctic, except clicking on your computer? :)
The polar bear / some creature was actually the idea I had in mind haha! I wanted to add some more to the environment but it was my first time working with 3D so it was slow going :(
Thanks for playing, and the kind words!
I'm amazed at how this 3D game works so well with a fully built-in OS with mini games and apps. The best part is that it shows what Godot is capable of, offering a good immersive experience.
Thanks for playing! Yes, Godot is pretty powerful, I'm surprised the web exports can run 3D pretty easily too :p
I love the fishing and cooking minigames, you could easily make an entire game out of these two! Nice submission!
Thanks for playing :)
i saw a lot of games using the computers env and this one is really good!!!!
Thanks!
I found this pretty fun! I enjoyed the management of all the different tasks; I think the hectic nature of it was enjoyable and fit the intent of the setting well. The in-game UI was nice as well.
Thanks for playing! :) Glad you enjoyed it
I was so surprised at the fishing and cooking games working together, really loved that. I didn't progress very far because I think my scroll speed of my mouse skipped over some explanation, but great visuals, great individual components, would love to see more of this game.
Thanks for playing! I'm not very good at making tutorials during game jams haha. Thanks for the kind words :)
lol, I know... I think I made a mistake in my own game by putting the tutorial in a separate menu click from the regular game. I've heard that good game jam games tend to be basically all tutorial and maybe like a little taste of what you actually wanted to make. Your game lends itself well to exploration, so I don't think it's a big deal. It's super cool and I'm glad you made it!
Great use of the theme. Glad to see multiple games went with the computer environment for the UI is Real wild card.
I agree the game is hectic but it is fun. The fishing and fish frying mini games working together was really fun and well thought out. It would be cool if the other mini games worked like that too.
The first time I played I couldn't click the red button for some reason. Not sure why but restarting it worked fine. I also couldn't figure out the faculty training mini game at first. I kept thinking it was a true false prompt. Felt dumb when I realized the red letters meant I was incorrect. Good UX on that though just bad user in me not understanding!
I liked how you setup the computer environment too. The UI of it looked great and felt like was a cohesive part of the game. Great job!
Thanks for playing and the nice comments! Yes I noticed that the collision boxes are moved to the left for some reason on some starts, I'll add a note in the description. Thanks again :)
This game is pretty frantic. I'm not very good because everything is falling apart for me almost on the off. I can keep a few things managed but some of those minigames are hard to do or very time consuming. I liked the dynamic between the fishing and the fish fry. I would play into that style a little more where one task is feeding another. I like this though and would love to see some more to this.
Thanks for playing! Part of the intention was for it to feel frantic and overwhelming at first. Balancing difficulty was hard as I knew most of the minigames. Thanks for the kind comments!
Agreed balancing is one of the hardest things to do during a game jam right after proper scoping.
This game feels fun, however I might just be stupid but I cant figure out how to not just loose within the first minute. alarms just start blaring and I dont really understand why. All the individual parts are very nice but I'm just not sure how not to loose.
Thanks for playing my game, I really appreciate it! :)
I did my best to create an instruction sheet towards the end of development, part of my intention was to make the game a little challenging to where the play could see improvment. I wasn't able to set up a time survived scoreboard sadly. There is a Status app that provides information on what tasks need to be done, and the alarms/timers do not start until the red button is pressed.
