Cool little game with a unique idea, reminds me a bit of Getting Over It. I think this could be great if there was more time in the jam but considering you had one week you've done a really good job! :)

How is your game related to the special object and theme?
The whole game is Christmas themed, during gameplay the play continuously gains speed or momentum. To steer the player uses a candy cane to wrap and spin around trees and other candy canes.
