A second game... it's pretty well made. The grappling hook mechanic was fun but a bit difficult to use sometimes.
I noticed a bug where enemies can run off platforms and not fall off, that caught me off guard, hehe. Also, you should try adding more feedback. I would die or lose hearts without knowing that I was hit by an enemy.
Overall, I think this is a great game and you did a real good job.
Hey there! Congrats on submitting, for a second game this is great work!
I have a few pieces of feedback if you’re interested:
The grappling hook mechanic was difficult to time – I am using a trackpad so it might just be an issue that gets solved with a mouse, but I find it’s often important to think about ways to make the game easier for players. It’s always going to be easier to you as the developer than it will be for other players. Maybe instead of clicking on the box, the player could just hold left click once they’re in range, and that would do the trick.
Adding feedback also goes a long way – for example when attacking the enemies, I was never sure if I had actually hit them or not. If they flashed white or took knockback it would indicate to the player that something actually happened.
Though these two points are specific to this game, they can be interpreted for future games as well in two simple ideas: make the game easier than you think it needs to be, provide feedback to the player so they know their actions actually happened.
Great job, keep at it!
Thanks for your feedback! I'll definitely hold them in account. Since Im planning to make it an mobile game.
It's pretty good. The controls are a bit finicky but for a second game I think you did outstandingly well.
Also I'm curious whether you drew the art yourself.
i'm pressing every button on screen, but i haven't quite figured out how to do anything except jump and fall off the map. i like your song choice though :)
it may seem that it's because I put the keys of the Dutch keyboard. It's just the normal buttons in every game to move.
hi again, would you be able to tell me all the controls in game? only A, D, and spacebar seem to do anything to move me around. Right click does a tiny little hop and left click is an attack, but I haven't figured out how these buttons allow me to reach the second higher up platform :)
Right click is a grappler. You need to point your mouse at the high platforms.
thanks for clearing that up! the gameplay is very interesting, that grapple is so fast! :)
Love the idea of a grappling hook! just a bit more indication on the range and conditions of using would be great !
Yes I noticed. But the grappling hook was a last minute idea. I definitely needs some work. Thanks tho.
be proud, the game is great !
Thanks! This really means allot since this is my second project since I started game dev.😄
