- Your GDD is very well thought out. I enjoyed getting a further look into what you had hoped to put into the game, even though you did not get to all of it. When I first played, I had felt that the spell mana took a long time to refill. Upon revisiting it, I felt like it refilled at a faster pace which was a lot easier to avoid being unable to defend myself. I also found an invisible barrier after the second key door. Going to the right, in the room with 2 chambers. At the top connection between them, it looked like I should've been able to walk through, but it wouldn't let me pass through. However, it felt less like I was the book and more like I was just using the book. Maybe implementing a small cut scene to show how the book got there might make that a bit more obvious. I hope you continue to work on this, since I'd love to see everything you originally planned added in. It's fun to play and I really like the nod to Dungeons and Dragons dungeon maps as what you move through!

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes
Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes
Summarise your game!
Spellbast is a 2D top down dungeon crawler.
Instructions are in the pause menu (Press Esc.):
WASD for movement. 1-3 for selecting spells (once you found them). Mouse for aiming. LMB for shooting.
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You ARE the book, which is the weapon! Incinerate your foes and fight your way to the exit for WORLD DOMINATION (imagine this world domination part, scope prevented us from actually dominating the world)
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
We focused a little too much on practicing our coding skills, and as such the gameplay was less fun than we had hoped. Please be kind.

Good job! I think you have a really nice start to a game here. The dungeon layout is nice and doesn't feel like I'm going in circles or backtracking too much. Finding the keys for unlocking the doors is good, and it's nice that you have the different spells. I hope you keep working on this and building it up! Maybe some more enemy variety, and adding some traps to the dungeon. I also really like the art you did for the menus! Great work!
Thank you for the feedback! Really appreciate it. Completely agree with what your comments regarding enemy and traps. We wanted to do more spells and more enemies, but that's for the future ;-)
