I figured everything out however I have to reset the page one or two times before I can even get a full story going. Mostly due to the NPCs not functioning, when I press talk, or I get into a black screen upon going down a floor.

to talk to NPCs and interact with anything, you need to stand close to the object (4-neighborhood)

are you playing the browser version? I checked, and everything works for me. during the black screen, there is a location generation that lasts about 3 seconds
