- This game was a surreal rush from start to finish! It's extremely well done in just about every aspect, with the "voice acting" being a pleasant surprise akin to Super Hot or Cruelty Squad. The artstyle is incredible and captures that "Return of the Obra Dinn" style of dithering very well. The control scheme was very interesting, swapping between the "overworld" and "sublevel" sections, with a tutorial that worked very well on the first time. I appreciate the fact the game slows down when teaching you new information without outright pausing, making it feel more fluid and natural instead of like an abrupt interruption. The short but skillful level design alongside the fact there's a speedrun timer on the second playthrough really shows you understand the target audience of speedrunners. The music furthermore captures exactly what the GDD says the game sets out to accomplish. It IS dark and moody, as intended, and fits everything perfectly. The flipping of level geometry was a huge surprise that made me say "wow" aloud as it added yet another fun challenging element. Though the GDD states there is not a "final" level, the ending that does exist is still plenty satisfying with its flythrough of that challenging level with all the effects playing. Fantastic work!

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes
Summarise your game!
You play as a summoned fire spirit, tasked with conquering a civilization who has summoned a great evil as a form of pure water. You latch onto enemies, enter into their mind, complete a platforming section to reach their brain, and set their brain on fire. Thus allowing you to exit and go onto the next enemy, continuing the loop until the level is completed. You cannot move, you cannot hit the ground more than once, and upon hitting the ground the lose condition is reached and the level is reset.
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You are entering into peoples minds and setting it on fire, effectively killing them and conquering a group of enemies, and it is the sole way to complete the level. In addition, you are tasked with defeating the great evil embodied as water, residing within the capital of the city itself.
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
The movement mechanics which I am quite happy about, the narrative elements highlighted within the GDD, this was done entirely solo by a 18 year old senior in Highschool a.k.a. me, and that I really enjoy your guys' content. Keep up the good work lads :)

Amazing work. The very last platforming bit was a bit challenging. And sometimes when I emerged out of a guy I would be a bit disoriented on where to go next sometimes. Perfect job on the tutorial. Great visuals. Wouldn't be surprised if this was a jam winner. Great job!
At last, flames are restored, yes! Wow the transitions into the minds were smooth, maybe exiting the mind can be worked on a little. This reminds me of custom parkour maps in various games, and is executed very well. I think the game introduces mechanics at a good rate. Would definitely replay if you add more content.
Phenomenal aesthetics and controls, really like the method of 'killing' being to complete a small bite sized platforming puzzle. Great stuff!!!
This is awesome !!!! I loooove 3d speedrunning games and this is just up my alley. I felt the sensitivity was a bit wonky, felt like the out of enemy sections vs in the enemy sections somehow had different sens values? I have no idea if it's just me but the transition felt a little wonky. Otherwise great concept and very fun movement :)
Congrats your game is super original. This game feels like a trip, I don't know where, but somewhere.
Very smooth gameplay and good use of S.A.M. at least i think its same. Idk what it is but i love that old crunchy voice. Anyways! great game! Good submission.
Thank you for making the a checkpoint inside of the person's mind, I died alot but got as far as I could!
Very cool submission it reminded me of CounterStrike Surfing! Robot Voice wasn't my cup of tea - but the guitar music was cool! Also loved how fluent the movement was.
Getting out of the mind of one knight was a struggle though because you had 0 orentiation - maybe look for a system to make this more "fluent".
I appreciate the feedback, thanks for playing! The biggest struggle I've had with this development has been that specifically, at the moment I slow time and try to give a better visual, but its still a bit disorienting. I tried having the camera reorient to the next nearest object, but that provides a lot of little complexities which are difficult to piece together in a short time frame (not to mention also disorienting). I think if I were to continue this project, the first thing I'd need to do is figure out how I can make exiting easier on the eyes and less disorienting, then just make it look cooler haha. Thanks for playin :)
Oh you could slow time? Lol. I never used that to be honest. I mightv'e skipped that part! 😂 But to be honest: I don't think it is need - i loved the speed! And I also loved, how fast the level restarts - so I never really WANTED to slow down.
Keep it up! I look forward to this! :)
awesome experience, I found a little bug, my camera turn blue and all was blue, I restart the web and all was ok, I like your game <3
Lots of fun! I love the art style and the gameplay was very smooth and fun, i just sometimes got lost after leaving the enemy mind but beside that very impressive!
coming back to this entry because i felt something was missing,
i think it'd be a cool/rewarding idea to add a scoring system for how well you play,
similarly to how ultrakill scores you on how stylish your performance was.
could be something for how many times you touched the ground,
or how many times you died during each level.
very stylish entry overall.
Wow, awesome job! The art and sounds/music are all great. Movement feels nice and fast. Love the jumping and grappling, and the fast level transitions are very nice to keep the flow going. Very fun, great work!
Super Impressive that you got all this done. Love the art style and mechanics. Very fun to traverse the world.
MANKIND IS DEAD.
