Definitely creative resources. And I liked the atmosphere. This would be a great Halloween story. There were some rough spots here, but overall, nice work!

Fascinating concept. The execution was a little clumsy at times and especially towards the end where I started to lose the thread. The shifting perspective between past and present left me feeling a bit of whiplash.

Even so, we'll done.

Cool idea! There were a few places where I stumbled a little over sentences, so maybe another round of editing might have helped. I also got a bit confused by the flow of the story as it seemed to jump around a little in time. Having said that, I really liked the description of the main character at the start, and the “narrators voice” was neat.

I dig it. Has a lot of the Industrial Era horror and I absolutely love it. Very good entry.

Concepts & Originality 3/5

The story is interesting and very evocative. There just doesn't seem to be anything tying it to the OPR setting as opposed to any other 18th or 19th century/gothic horror story.

Flow & Clarity 4/5

The story is well written, with a fairly clear narrative and distinct narrator voice that fits the story well. I didn't notice any mistakes or typos that interrupted the flow of the prose.

Adherence to Theme 5/5

The story seems to adhere to the theme well. Well done.

If you want to discuss any of my feedback/ratings, feel free to @ me on the OPR discord.

Really great myth story, this is the stuff that campfire tales are made of! As far the writing, I would always suggest that if you're going to use physical descriptions of a character (especially as the first paragraph) then you need to bring that back around by the end. Without a word limit, or with some editing, theres a great place in this story for that... I don't like the way the ending is written at all, it feels really rushed and just flat out tells the reader how it ends. I think if you could have described him like you did at first, but show how his appearance changes to the undead thing he becomes that would have been MUCH stronger. Other than that, I would nitpick on stuff like telling us that he "sort of" believes in the supernatural, or how the demon's appearance shifts the pace. Still one of the more engaging stories in my que so far! I'll probably be plagiarizing this tale next time I go camping =)

Amazing!  Feels very gothic horror, reminds me of Frankenstein.

I very much like the focus! A very good tale of hubris. Very much feels almost like a dark fantasy novel premise, and that's a good thing! Definitely agree that it could've used a few more editing passes, and some of the sentence and paragraph structure could've been reworked, but honestly, the bones on this ship are sound!
 Keep writing, my friend!
And well done!

I’m a sucker for “more than you bargained for” type spooky tales so I greatly enjoyed this. As for constructive criticisms, it likely could have used a few more rounds of editing, but beyond that this story is awesome!

The POV is awesome. It really felt like I was watching some twisted documentary. The way with words completely brings this story to another level.
