Well deserved 5 star rating. Really good job! I like how the spider has multiple purposes, even breaking walls i cant traverse without it. Great story too and it fits so well into the universe you built with your other games. :)

Developer

Oh awesome, thank you! Thanks for playing!

Graphics and sound are awesome!

I really love how you made the projectiles multi purpose, very creative work!

Loved it! Well done! :D

Thanks for playing and thank you!

Very cute polished game! The art is amazing and once I knew what the spider could do I even loved it more. It would be cool if the spider could damage too so you can shoot 2 balls to create some sort of track for it to follow and damage enemies on it

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much and thanks for playing. That's a good idea. I didn't want the spider to damage creatures, only inanimate objects, but if I take the game further that may change.

Excellent game ! The shoot and catch mechanic is a really cool idea. Congrat !

Developer

Thanks and thanks for playing! I spent a lot of time just shooting and fetching the ball instead of working on the game.

Now I want a spider friend to bring me things...

That was so much fun. I broke out my nes controller for this one and it really made it feel like an old school game.

Great as always :)

Developer

Maybe there's a spider friend in your house right now? I have an 8bitdo NES like controller that I like using when I can. Thank you for playing.

Honestly haven't had a chance to play it but judging the title I already adore this game....love love love spiders. If it's a lil girl with a spider like the title suggest my heart will melt .

*edit* yep loved it!! heart didn't quiet melt though....

Developer

Spiders and skeletons are both great! Thanks for playing!

Excellent job as always!  You had a really impressive amount of polish here, and the level design did a really good job of introducing the mechanics over time.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Been trying to get a good handle on introducing mechanics better. Thank you.

Very enjoyable, cute story and well thought projectile mechanics, nice job!

Thank you and thanks for playing!

Great game - very polished!  I absolutely love the spider friend. really clever use of an animal and I love the mechanic for when the spider broke boxes and retrieved the ball.  The only challenge for me was missing a shot and then having to go next to the enemy to get my ball for a second shot.  Lastly, great story, I played all the way to the end and just wish there was more.  This is one of my favorites so far and I hope you get to continue it.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I had four bullet points in my notes in my first idea for this game, and the spider breaking boxes was one of them, I really wanted to get it in there.

Submitted(+1)

"Box breaking" was great.  There was something really satisfying about having a side-kick who was sort of bad-ass like that.

Submitted(+1)

Nice and cute experience.

Cool to see Crunkle coming back again!

Small disclaimer: If you continue with this game and have a plottwist where the cute spider becomes the big huge creepy spider from the previous GDKO I will be very much upset 😭

Developer

Thanks for playing! We'll see about the story, I'm still trying to figure something out for it.

Submitted(+1)

I absolutely love how satisfying the throwing feels with how the ball bounces on hit. The sound effects are great too! Cool mechanic with being able to break boxes by making the spider run though them.

Developer

The ball shooting was something I kept on tweaking throughout development, spent a lot of time on it. I still feel like I have to tweak it a bit more. Thanks for playing.

I think this was the first game I played before the voting period started and so it got burried in the back of my mind but here we are. It is cute and enjoyable, loved the fetching spider, and looking at rating criteria you got it all amazingly well covered, for indeed the animal is crucial to  gameplay and even has to do with projectile, great job.

Developer

Thank you for playing! I was stuck on the idea for the first few days and had to just pick one of the ideas and this one seemed like the most fun for me at the time, I'm happy with how it came out.

Submitted(+1)

I loved the artstyle and the ball chasing mechanics! From the other comments it looks like this is a prequel to your other submissions, so I will have to check them out!

Developer

Thanks for playing! The other games were like a whole series for last year's GDKO featuring Crunkle, I'd be happy if you tried them out.

Submitted(+1)

Oh! It's a prequel story to previous GDKO games ? Very engaging)

I liked how shooting projectiles feels and looks. Overall great game!

Developer(+1)

Not sure about prequel or not, a lot of the story ideas are still a swirling goo. Thanks for playing!

First of all, the art is gorgeous (as expected). The tie in with Crunkle's was unexpected but fun. I think that the animals and projectiles were done exceedingly well, as both have multiple uses and both have uses that tie in with one another, amazing job with that. The story wasn't as integrated with the gameplay as I might have liked. Also minor nitpick but I don't think a single one of the signs was ever helpful to me, every one I read I'd already discovered the mechanic for myself, which was more fun in my opinion. They were probably a good inclusion for any players that didn't figure out the mechanics but for me personally they kind of took away immersion. This really came together as a complete product so great job with that, wonderful work!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback and thanks for playing!

That was pretty fun! The story felt a bit random at times but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Seeing the spider barge through boxes was pretty unexpected and a funny game mechanic. Overall a pretty nice game :D good job!

Developer

Thank you and thanks for playing!

Fun art style. We thought of a similar concept somewhere (like an animal friend going to fetch stuff for you and puzzles based on that). But our implementation is flawless. Loved it.

Developer(+1)

Thank you. I've seen a few games with fetch mechanics, all a bit different, but very fun. Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

The shooting mechanic was fun, and worked really well with the animal companion. I really liked how the projectile had weight to it, felt really purposeful when I was shooting it. The art is gorgeous and the progression is tight with a nice easy to remember backtrack path that makes the world feel really open. It was also a really good length for a jam game, long enough to give an experience but short enough to not outstay its welcome. bug free too. I look forward to the next episode!

super awesome job!

Developer

Thank you for playing! The ball was something I spent a lot of time on to get feeling how I wanted it, and I kept tweaking here and there throughout.

Submitted(+1)

Such an awesome game, I love to see the tie in with Crunkle's Sideshow!

We can always count on you to include some kind of interesting story in all your submissions, so it makes sense you'd be a shoe-in for the storytelling round.

Developer

Thank you, I'm glad you like my stories. And thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

I love the art style. Reminds me of Bomberman Quest in a way. Fun mechanics, and my playthrough way bug free, unless you count the spider as a bug. I have no criticism.

Story's clear, projectile mechanic is unique, and animal is crucial to gameplay. Well done 👏

Developer(+1)

Thank you! The art style is definitely GB Color inspired by Link's Awakening, so pretty similar to Bomberman Quest. Thanks for playing!
