How does the game fit the theme?
You're late to something, be it work, an interview or lunch, and you're driving a car equipped with jet engines to the place. Thus, when you're driving, nothing can go wrong, unless of course you want to be late.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
All the SFX and music, some code snippets (e.g. cam shake, which I took from my old scripts).

The year is 2005. I have been playing games on Kongregate since 8:30 AM. My mom says we can go to McDonald's for lunch if I want to. Life is good.
Entertaining, classic game loop. The controls are good. The camera is a bit close at the beginning! FUN!
Fun game! The driving physics feel really good, and the camera zooming based on speed is helpful. The only issue I had was balancing - I added powerful (and expensive) engines to my car. They made me go a lot faster, but that also made me crash a lot more. In the end, I was 4 seconds faster than with the weak engines, but all my money was spent on repairs. Still, it's a fun loop with a nice bit of humor.
Nice work! I did not heed the warning about buying bulb and paid the ultimate price...

Loved the upgrade idea, it felt a bit too "grindy" tho with the amount of money won not really scaling that much with how fast you did.
I made it to 15 secondes with the bigest propulsor set up and the extra grippy wheels.
I kinda wanted to so how fast i could get but getting 45.000$ to upgrade it completly felt like it would have taken me too long.
Enjoyable and addictive, good job !

Fun game I really liked the upgrade and drive systems.
Also there is a bug with driftV10 item where it costs 150 but only takes away 50 coins.
Ah, that's not quite a bug. Cuz the default tyre is gripper, which costs 100 coins, and if you replace the tyre, the price of the previous tyre gets refunded. Which means DriftV10 still costed 150, but 100 of the price is covered by the default gripper. Thanks for the feedback tho!
Topdown racing! Good to see this type of game again. (I know I am old) The game feels very nice, the driving is smooth, and the upgrade system is nice too. The difficulty is a bit high but it's very fun and challanging. Loved it! The last engine really is a beast though.. got it through the bug you've mentioned but tried it regardless.
Not sure what to say, except maybe adding a bit more variation to the map/adding different maps to play with. Speaking of maps, the first turn in the map is really unforgiving, and I think is the second hardest turn in the game. This first one being the parking turn for sure.

Good game but I would like to have different tracks, game gets repetitive after a few rounds.
There are 4 tracks in the game right now, but I suppose that's still too little, and I would've definitely added more if I had the time.
A simple but fun game, along with kinda feeling like crazy taxi.
