How does the game fit the theme?
Working in a budget shop where you are the only employee at the till, with a never ending queue, a faulty system, and even people trying to cheat by sticking discount labels onto normal goods, are surely going to go well. Surely Nothing can go wrong... right?

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

The controls to pick the the scanners are a bit fiddly, but otherwise I think the game plays rather well. I liked the lofi how to play tutorial, though I couldn't make sense of it at the time. I may or may not have called the cops on innocent people...

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you liked the game! Sending innocent people to jail is super fun, trust me, I've unnecessarily spammed that button quite a number of times when I was developing the game too XD

The highest review I’ve given. This game has a very real chance of winning the entire jam.

Was very slightly infuriated by one particular label that was very poorly positioned and ate up an entire minute trying to get the barcode scanner to go the right way

The staff orientation was like trying to read Hamlet in French. I’ve read Hamlet, I know some French, but if I were to read Hamlet in French, I would miss some important details.

Heart system made the game forgiving enough without removing the challenge, I really liked that.

If anything, I would just add some more possible options for products on the belt.

The SFX were perfect and the music worked well. The visuals were really well drawn, I liked the style a lot.

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed the game! We intentionally put the reduced labels in a way that it's not entirely horizontal or vertical just to make the game a bit hard, but it seems like you've got a particularly bad one. Hope that doesn't spoil the experience. It would be nice for more items too, as I felt 4 types are just too few for a game like this. It's due to time constraints, but I don't think this should be an excuse. Anyway, thank you so much for the kind words!

Cute game! Feels a bit too clunky for me but that might be the playstyle you're going for .. I got so many blue screens yo T_T

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! The blue screen only appears when you are scanning an item while it's still loading, or when you are scanning an item when a popup is present. Sorry for not clearly conveying that

Submitted

Ohh. Well, I figured that was a possibility, that's okay. ^_^

The way I was holding the scanner it was spinning around like crazy and often spun and double scanned almost instantly haha. Skill issue XD

Really fun game! I like the style, concept and implementation! It was so fun to call police on some people. It takes a bit of time to adjust to controls but really cool all in all!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Not everyone have seen the police mechanic in action, which is our fault for not clearly explaining it, but glad you found it funny! Thanks!

Really fun game! It was fun to scan stuff and I like the aspect of having to make sure the customer is getting the right item when you scan the special stickers. The minigames that pop up on the monitor are cool too and I like that it adds to the hectic-ness of the game. I didn't really understand most of the tutorial, but I was able to work out how to play the game over the course of a run or 2. Great work!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed our game! Luckily, the game's core mechanic was simple enough, so it's still possible to understand the game without it, but yeah we should really do a better job on it. Thanks!

Really nice game! The visuals were amazing and the audio is nicely done. The tutorial wasn't very clear though but thankfully the game was intuitive enough so that didn't quite matter that much. The POS system is quite infuriating at times, and welp I guess it really did serve its purpose of being faulty lol. Overall, amazing game and I don't really have any complaints other than the tutorial thing.

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed our game! Yeh the tutorial is one of the things that we should do a much better job of. Thanks!

Such a nice game, especially in a week!! After understanding how the game works it was really fun and probably the first game in this Jam I've tried which I actually wanted to play for a longer time! I think the part which impresses me the most is how polished the game is! Every menu and every screen, from the itch page to the phone you use in game is well done with fun animations. Really fun game, really enjoyable with a nice artstyle!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed our game so much!

Great game! Took me some time to get the mechanic, but once I did it was a treat! Very cool idea and take on the theme. The "How to play" is not easy to understand so I suggest making a tutorial. Some of the audio stopped and didn't loop (like the sound of the people in the background) but that's an easy fix!

I, like others I guess, didn't understand how to move the monitor, so it's good you acknowledged that and wrote that under the game. So that's another thing that I suggest making more clear.

Keep it up!!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed the game! Yes, we should really do better in teaching the player how to play (and the monitor too). We went for a non-texted style of how to play, but given the complexity of the game, it might not be a good idea. Doing a playable tutorial will be much better, but we were sadly out of time. We will definitely do that if we are further developing this into a full game. Thanks for the comments and the kind words!

I knew I was in for a treat when I loaded in and saw that beautiful menu art. Overall, the art style is incredible and the gameplay follows a similar style. There's something so satisfying about scanning these products and keeping the line moving.

One thing I would suggest would be to maybe make the numbers able to enter using the keypad because it was difficult at times to remember all the numbers to enter but that also added a bit to the chaos!

I swear I'm going to have nightmares about trying to get the scanner to stop spinning haha

Developer

Thank you for playing and for the kind words too! Using the keypad on your own keyboard might make the game too easy, but it's certainly a nice idea worth exploring a bit more. Maybe we can get something out of it! Anyway, I am glad you enjoyed our game!

This game is so fun! It amazes me how creative people can get when it comes to making games. I liked almost everything about it, except when the POS of a POS broke down...twice...in a row! Art, presentation and music are great! The only gripe is with the tutorial, but hey, I managed to figure things out by just recognizing I only needed the mouse. Fantastic job, definitely one of the best games I've tried in this jam. Well done, and good luck!

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed the game! The system will crash when you try to scan something while it's loading. It's a way to add a bit more frustration. Hope it works out as we thought it would! Jokes aside, thanks for the very kind words! It definitely makes both of us very happy.

I really love how silly and realistic this game portrait a simple process :)) well done!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed the game!

Love this game, art style is simple and cute, the physics with each sensor and product is so silly, and i love punching in the numbers for scratched out labels

Reminds me a lot of papers please in a great way

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed the game! I am happy that you mentioned Paper Please as we do draw quite some ideas from that wonderful game. Glad you felt that too.

The spinning barcode scanner is going to haunt me forever. Very fun, cute, stressful game!

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed the game! Here's something specifically for you. Enjoy!

I picked this random game for my girlfriend to test it. She's just coming back for work, where she is a cashier, so scanning items all day long. We really enjoyed this simulator from top to bottom: graphics, sounds and music, and gameplay. Well done. Being a cashier in this game can be such a pain in the ass, like in real life, where your **** software goes mad and nothing works as it should be. ^^ You are on our list for this jam. 5 ⭐️ everywhere!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! Glad you two enjoyed the game! One of our team members also worked as a cashier, and there are quite a few ideas from their real-life experiences. I will let them know about your kind words! It's probably some kind of worst-case scenario for retail if I had to be honest, but at least in a game it's frustrating yet fun! Glad her thinks the same way too.

Oh, that's why they called me a "POS".

Jokes aside, the polish is impressive! The whole "tagging things" mechanic is one of the most original I've seen.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed the game! We've spend quite some time on polish and glad it paid off.

Super cute game, nice concept and if there were any bugs or jankiness didn't really notice because it didnt take away from the game and actually adds to the experience :P Great work!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Thanks for the kind words, and I am glad you enjoyed the game!

Nice, now I feel I am back at working in retail :D

I love the graphics and music. Aiming to scan the things was quite difficult, but i liked it.

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed the game!

love the concept and the art is good!

Love the concept, really hard from laptop without a mouse ^^"

Developer(+1)

Thank you for checking it out! I am terribly sorry we haven't though of the trackpad users. It's the blind spot where both of use are not using a computer with one when making the game. Sorry!

Submitted(+1)

I really love the overall art style and the way you can turn the elements. It really feels like you are manually touching things which makes very comic situations  when the devices don't work. The sound design is amazing and the overall game loop is enjoyable like a chill and cozy game. Very well done!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Thanks for the kind words, and I am glad you enjoyed the game!
