How does the game fit the theme?
You play as Murphy, a person living with anxiety. Murphy hears of a promotion opportunity at work and wants nothing more than to impress the boss and get that promotion. The pay rise would be life changing. Today has to be perfect. If anything goes wrong, Murphy might not get that promotion, and their life will be over.
However, both the choices you make for Murphy and the choices life makes for us will affect Murphy's ability to ace that interview with the boss. Throughout the day, Murphy will suffer anxiety attacks where you must do battle with various anxiety demons.
The outcome of the story, the battles you end up fighting, and the abilities you gain are all affected by the choices you make - will your choices leave Murphy better off? Or will everything go wrong?
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Kenney: Furniture Pack
Kenney: Fantasy UI Pack
AvKov: Railway Mesh
Brylie Christopher Oxley: Stages (Non-combat music)
Nathan Hoad: Dialogue Manager Plugin

Very good project! I'm not usually into dialogue-based games, but the music and atmosphere hooked me, and I ended up reading the entire story. I found the game extremely difficult, almost impossible to beat, but I feel like that difficulty adds to the message about the character we play and his struggles. Great job, nice work!
Thank you very much for playing! Glad to hear it was compelling enough to stick through to the end.
I came to this page looking forward to trying your game. Unfortunately I had problems similar to what other people have reported. I have a relatively beefy PC with a dedicated GPU but the game wouldn’t load. Like the other user having problems I only have 8GB of RAM and despite being able to play some AAA games looks like this is too demanding for my machine. The fact that you claim that the game takes a “while to load” after actually loading makes me thing you are probably instantiating a lot of stuff that is too intensive on memory. There are several ways you can optimize some stuff, ping me if you need ideas.
Hey thanks for the offer!
I have found ways to slightly improve the overall combined loading time and also ways to split up the loading, but unfortunately the main problem seems to be a bug in one of the plugins we are using (Dialogue Manager) in combination with instantiating scenes. After the jam though I’ll be able to upload an updated version which is significantly improved.
Nevertheless I would love to know if you have any ideas! Even with the optimizations I’ve managed it still takes a surprisingly long amount of time to force-preload some of the background scenes even when they are empty…
This was a really interesting and unique game! Great job :)
Thank you so much!
Nice game, I like the arts and the idea !
Thank you! Thanks for playing :)
aesthetic game
Thank you! 🫰
Cool game! A lot of dialogue, but hey it's an RPG. Great visuals, nice story!
Thank you for playing!
That narrative got me stuck in the game reading every line, even though I got beaten a lot in this game, but the game just gets more engaging with the narration, the visual are so appealing and relaxing until you suddenly get faced with something like shame 😂
Very nice game, well done 👌🌸
Thank you so much for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed the game :)
This is a good game, granted I don't usually play a lot of dialogue heavy games so I might not be the best judge for this.
I liked the music playing in the background, though I expected the music to be a bit more tense during the panic/anxiety situations.
I also found it weird that during the first panic/anxiety we only get one option but it does some damage regardless. I understand what you are going for in terms of reality but it feels like there's nothing the player can do but lose some hp.
Lastly, how dare you mention the cat without any cat image or animation :D
Good game and good luck :)
Thanks for your feedback! Yes, the first battle can feel a little simple. We wanted it to be a bit more of a tutorial initially but ran out of time. Thankfully Oscar coded in some fun additional moves in the battles after, but we'd love to expand it at some stage to spice it up.
Your feedback about lack of cat imagery is valid and we take this seriously. Please accept the following compensation:
I hope this has been sufficient. If not, there is plenty more available.
Jokes aside, thanks for playing and take care!
I will accept the compensation :)
Feel free to check out my games, I am currently 4 ratings away from 20 and qualification.
10/10 I love this!
Thank you so much! That means a lot :)
cool i like it i not a fan of demons but its cool!!
Thanks for playing! Is there anything specifically you didn't like about them, so that we can improve them in future? Cheers!
So beautiful, really really good game! The writing was astounding!
Really good work guys.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it :)
That's a very cool game! i died on the shame and the unknown of course ^^
They're a little unrelenting, The Unknown in particular. Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing :)
Super cool RPG. Here are some things i noted:
Overall very enjoyable experience!
Thanks for playing! And thank you for your feedback as well. We definitely would want to overhaul the non-combat visuals if we develop the game further, and making UI scaling adjustments would definitely make the game more accessible.
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers
Loved it, loved it, loved it.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it.
I liked how you covered the theme, very innovative.
Just to give some feedback, i think it misses some characters to engage more, but as the art and the music was cool it was not a big issue. I would add more options in the combats to feel that you can act more. But well done and keep pushing forward!! :) Congratulations to all of you!! <3
Thanks for your feedback! Definitely looking to expand the choices and character interactions if we develop the game further. Thanks for your kind words!
The shader looks really cool! And the battle music sounds amazing. I feel the battle should incorporate more options to give variety to the battle. Other than that, great job on your game!
Thanks for playing! We'd definitely like to expand the battle system further if we end up making any further developments. Thank you for the suggestion!
Wow. This is the first RPG I played here and it was sweet! Altough I had some problems with the difficulty (I really couldn't beat the "Unknown"). I loved the art and the music, and the theme is interesting and well presented, great job!!
Glad you liked it. Definitely need to do a balance pass if we do any further releases. Even if it makes narrative sense that sometimes you just can't win, it'd be more fun if you could somehow.
Thanks for playing!
Ohhhh, if making me lose was intentional then it's a different matter! Makes more sense and deals with deeper topics :)
Unfortunately, the game doesn't start on my laptop. I thought that once I downloaded the file, everything would work properly, but it didn't :(
Ah that's unfortunate. What laptop/specs do you have? Maybe there's a compatibility bug there somewhere that we need to hunt down. Thanks for trying!
Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU N3700 @ 1.60GHz 1.60GHz 8.00 GB RAM
(available: 7.83 GB) System type 64-bit operating system, x64 processor
Ok this one is an innovative game with cool concept.
Thank you! Thanks for playing.
Nice game! I lost every combat, didn't know what I was doing, but cool! I loved the combat music too, made me think of pokemon's
Thanks for playing! Yeah the combat can be a bit unforgiving... but thankfully it doesn't gate your progress through the story. If we release any further versions, combat balancing and tutorials are definitely worth a look. Glad you liked it, and thanks for your kind words!
