Is it cheating if I use the reset skills tree command? Shouldn't there be some other way that lets me reset my skills without having to spit in the mouths of devs that worked so hard on designing this beautiful essence driven game?

I wouldn't call that cheating. 

Because there IS an in-game way to reset your skills while keeping all your points and inventory. 

its called the rebirth mechanic. 

Lona has a baby, drops it off at the church with the nun in the room on the right, then dies. You keep all your points and whatever you had in the bank

The intended way to reset skills is be reborn with the rebirth mechanic it also resets all quests

Yes you are. Another way to reset is dying and starting a new game. RPG are kinda made for this, to try same quests and situations with different characters over and over.

Not like cheating is a horrible thing, but cheating is cheating.
