Stuff you did not do in February
Wrote a pre-planning game design document (included in download). Took care of project boilerplate. Imported player character controller (featuring basic player movement and not much else) and various self-written libraries from earlier projects. Bit Myr. Imported Func_Godot.

See credits for additional resources used that aren't by us.

Everything else made during jam period, from February 1st 2025, to submission date.

ok but why does the movement in this feel so goddamn good

This is a very fun little demo. Use of the little-known face-punch induction is a delight, and there's something deeply satisfying about slowly bringing the club under our control. For a month, this is crazy good -- given a couple months for filled-in zonk placeholders, different types of guests, little bits of challenge like stealth, it could be genuinely great.

It does really feel incomplete but I can see something with this. I enjoyed the reactive talk from everyone.

The feeding aspect reminds of of BloodRayne since she's a vampire as well. If you're team is able, I'd like to see more of this and where this would go.

Took me a while to realize that you can turn critters so i ended up with a pile of bodies in one place, but once i did.. it does hit that assimilation braincell. i kinda wish critters walked around a bit more in general, i saw a bunch walking at the very beginning and then for the most part everybody just stood still. I could see a version of this where you have to get someone alone before draining them, perhaps using hypno to do so. Neat little prototype!

EDIT: Oh and i just remembered, the title of the game coming up only once you finished the short tutorial was pretty neat.

  1. I arrive at the function.
  2. I turn on my hypno-eyes. At no future step do these get turned off.
  3. I slap everyone in the face at least once.
  4. I feast.
  5.  Everyone is now my friend! :D

I adore this concept a lot, and the work that went into the procedural physics is really palpable. It's so much fun to throw everyone around!

I really appreciate your in-depth postmortem and the design doc you included, being able to see your process was half the fun of this entry to me. The idea of "blood acting like rings from sonic" is so funny, and the physics you've made would really lend to gameplay being that fast-paced and hectic. Especially good call turning away from VR for the jam's sake-and if you keep it desktop-centric, I think you could play a lot with different movement options, and how they react with your silly physics!

really fun to punch them lol. but more importantly despite the rough edges that vampire turning is really really hot.

like i was blushin O_O

Totally forgot about vampires when thinking about hypnosis hehe. Very cool simulation. I absolutely adore the active ragdolls, the way the thralls rise up is so perfect. And I really like the closeup and critter’s comments when you bite, very immersive. And the banter is so good ahah. Not exactly sure what the thralls and hypnotized critters do other than the changed banter. It’d be pretty neat if the hypnotized ones followed you or something. The thralls look very cool with the glowing eyes though. A very charming project.

This is a really fun little sandbox to mess around in, and having the additional context of your post-mortum was really eye-opening for what the intended scope of the project. (Seeing this in VR would have been amazing, even if ultimately that was really ambitious to even consider doing within the jam's timespan.)

There's fun to be had - the wibbly-wobbliness of the NPCs walking round is really fun - ditto for smacking them around and watching them bop around like car salesmen blow-up displays. The various voice lines are fun to get, and hot damn, is that bite animation good. It gets that visceral nature of vampires in a way few games do!

It's a really interesting prototype with a lot of ways you could nudge it - it'd be cool to see what comes of it in the future if you ever returned to the idea!

The ragdoll-like way everyone moves is really neat! The responsive dialogues are also cool and I like the difference for converted critters. The controls and physics feel like they're in a good spot, it's all quite fun as a demo! I didn't really encounter any major bugs or performance issues in the web version.

If you have plans to keep developing this project, the gameplay design seems like it can go in quite a number of ways. I think that something objective-oriented would suit the theme better than a sandbox approach. It would be cool to see the converted vampires in action and form strategies for whatever a level requires. The game has a very solid and uniquely interesting start, so I hope that you'll find time to expand it a bit after the Jam!

I see potential in this but it does feel very unfinished (not having any sort of goal or any sort of tracking of things like blood or thralls or anything doesn't help this). However, from reading your postmortem I see that a lot of ambition went into this, and procedural animation is a hell of a thing to get working right on any sort of deadline.

I like the character designs and dialogue even though it was a bit of a dice roll on if you can see it during feeding. Sounds were also good. I would definitely love to see this further developed.

These walking animations are hilarious. I also low-key love the way the critters look, there's something to be said for the aesthetics here.

You've got a very solid prototype/MVP here, it would definitely be interesting to see work on it continue if you're so inclined.

We’ve written a postmortem detailing the development and journey behind the scenes of the game! It’s a lengthy read, but is likely to be an intriguing read for other folks who participated in the jam, given the quantity of fellow nerds in this crowd!

Once I bite all the critters and turn them into vampires we can all hang out and talk about blood types

This is an interesting little prototype, i like it
