Nice idea, but the camera kinda messes with my head. Also the physics are a bit weird - hard to control the freefall - but that might be a skill issue. Navigating the glide is also a bit weird, dunno if I just need to get used to it though.

Not all surfaces are climbable, but I guess that's okay. Managed to find a secret island.

Neat prototype.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! Which surfaces couldn't you climb on?

Mostly the rocks, especially near the edge of the main platform - I did try exploring a little bit, and I seemed to be stuck at the very beginning of the rock on the right side of the main platform

Alright. I saw your twitch playthrough after I replied to you.

Interesting concept. The idea is that fires will keep spawning, and you need to deffend your house? If it is kinda arcady like that, maybe add a counter for the amount of fires we have put off?

About the controls, when we are on the ground, we aim with the mouse, and move forward pressing W, relative to the mouse position. Standard FPS.

But on the air, the mouse suddently Rolls and Pitches the character, but to turn you actually need to press A and D keys. It is very strange. I would rather have a consistent control scheme. Just make the air controls the same as the ground controls. It will feel better in my opinion.

Other than that, seems that it could be a very relaxing game. Keep it up.

Developer(+1)

Good point about the controls. I released a new version of the game with a consistent scheme.

Played for a while, put some fire out, after the first 2 fires the newly spawned fires did not move towards the home.

The gliding feels nice. You're hard to steer properly while gliding, banking is better than just turning but it's still slow, the best turning method I found was to stop gliding to reset my horizontal speed and then glide again. It works fine I guess, but I'd prefer if you were more maneuverable.
Climbing feels disorienting because of the first person camera.
There should be a sound cue for picking up water bombs and some indication that you've got one ready.

As a movement demo it's fine but I don't think putting out fires is a particularly compelling concept. Might work better as a pure traversal game?
I'll play more of it if you continue working on it.

Thank you for the feedback. I wanted to do more advanced flying physics and add more effects but I ran out of time.

i like games with gliding, but the idea of grabbing water to put out a fire and then backtracking to grab more water to put out another fire isn't particularly appealing to me. you spend a lot of time just running around, looking for more water to grab.
the gliding feels nice, but sometimes it felt like it was sliding sideways even though i was only pushing forward, as if it kept pushing you towards the previous direction with the momentum not stopping.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Yeah the gliding has a lot of momentum involved.

I feel like this kind of game would benefit greatly by having 3rd person view. Idea of piloting flying squirrel like an airplane sound fun.

Developer

I might actually do this, thanks for the suggestion.

Cute game. The jumping/running feels good but flying with the mouse doesn't. Its also very difficult to make any big changes in direction while flying and feels very sluggish because of that.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

Jumping off mushrooms and flying around is fun. I'm not a super huge fan of the way the camera tilts around - sometimes it's hard to orient the character properly. It also felt like I wasn't totally in control sometimes while gliding.

Thank you for the feedback!
