super fun to navigate and strategize in this game! i feel like a pro gamer by curving the world around after i fire a laser to change its trajectory 😆 if you do wind up implementing more difficulty levels, one appreciated change would probably be to make the cap on lasers a bit tighter? i appreciate that the infrastructure is there to begin with, but 10 feels like enough to where i can still mash the button with reasonable results. love the look of this big chunky moon!
Yes, definitely need to actually play the game more to iron out the proper difficulties!
The big change on the screen when I rotate the crank feels amazing to me.
I am glad that it feels substantial!
i played this for a loooooong time. 415 moon imps zapped
the lack of clear win/lose condition is probably why I played for so long. on the surface, this looks like an arcade action game but ended up playing more like an idle clicker. honestly, it's hard to say whether i'd prefer a change to the scoring/balancing. probably would want an actual pinch at some point to keep the game interesting, but I really did enjoy the endless monster hunting and frantic building placement
great submission to the jam!
That is great to hear! Maybe something to add could be difficulty levels so that the easier level is where it's at now, but higher difficulty levels would push the game to end earlier.
After restarting the game, the creatures that destroyed your buildings in the previous round will remain on screen and not move. There you can just zap creatures endlessly and spin the moon to your heart's content. Fun! The regular game before that was fun too :)
Haha I love that you made the bug into a bonus game! Glad you had a good time.
Great use of the crank here, there's something so satisfying about spinning the moon in this game!
I have to know if it's possible to "win" this game! My high score is maybe 31 buildings!
I was a bit confused what the goal was while playing this. Obviously I can tell you lose at some point (so I guess "don't lose" is the goal?) but it didn't really feel difficult to keep placing buildings and shooting monsters, so I basically only lost because I got bored of playing.
Maybe I wasn't understanding something though! That could definitely be the case- my first run I missed the fact that you could move the cursor with the d-pad (all the other controls were listed at the start of the game, so I assumed that was all I could do!)
Still, cranking around to spin the moon was viscerally satisfying, and because the bullets travel in screen space rather than around the moon it was fun to spin a wall of bullet death around the moon repeatedly and rack up kills.
I love the bullet spin too!
Nah you pretty much nailed it!
The balance/difficultly of the game is definitely needing some work; I didn't have enough time for tweaking it towards the end of the jam.
Good point on the d-pad controls - I can make a quick update for those.
And I agree - when I was playing it getting a death-wheel of lasers going was pretty fun!
