This game was amazing. I was a little sad when I beat it. It is already a 5/5. Adding an ending cutscene would had been the cherry on top. Only complain is that the volume on some of the SFX doesn’t seem normalized and some are very low while some are too loud. Audacity has a normalize effect that I try to use when I get sounds from different sources.
Nice concept and well done execution!
Great game!
You did a great job with this game. The UI looks really clean, the abilities are great and the main mechanic with the last characters also playing is such a neat idea. The only small problem I had was searching the last enemy on the map. But anyways a nice game!
There was a side-scroller with a similar idea, in my opinion your topdown implementation is clearer and more fun.
Needless to say, the game is polished to the point of indecency!
Of the minuses, the only thing I can think of is that the game seems a little long. A little. Although the desire to see new interesting characters motivated me to continue playing)
Yeah this was amazing, amazing work and im genuinly scared of you right now
I love the art, huge fan of thick outlines. Having the past selves work to help you out and to press buttons really made the game feel unique and more fun. The UI was insanely polished and cool and being able to test out abilities in the character select was a genius idea. I think that having a minimap, even with just the enemy locations, would have been key as I found myself just looking around for a final enemy or 2 instead of, well, playing the game. I liked how you had to fight a wave with every character although I did feel discouraged then from taking more characters as it meant the game mostly just took longer, without much of a difficulty increase besides the timer being more imposing (which feels kind of like an arbitrary restriction). The music was great and the sound effects were juicy, although a couple did feel out of place. Beautiful art and fun game, great job!
Great take on Gain Grounds. Loved the collaboration between previous runs and others, with unlocking the gates to get new characters. Fantastic. Great all around, hit the criteria of the round and nailed everything. Great work!
No notes. Incredible idea, great execution.
Really cool idea! I found a hack to speedrun it though :D by keeping only one character alive :) I am not sure if that affected the score though...
I especially liked that you let the player to test the abilities of each character while selecting. But I think without showing that the secondary ability is on cooldown (like in gameplay) it might be confusing that it is not working while trying to use it right away...
All in all, really great and polished game :) Well done!
This was a really fun and clever take on the Gain Ground formula. Well Done!
That was a blast to play! Amazing entry, really fun and it gets quite challenging and hectic in the later waves of each level :D I was already thinking about how to do things better for the next run while all my family members were dying, but then the game ended with a win screen so I somehow made it through with two alive :D
Really cool game, great job!
Awesome game design with using the ghost as reinforcements. Visuals are top notch. Difficulty was just right, and due how the game is designed it will scale according to the skill of the player, which is perfect. The music was bangin, almost too much so that some of the sound effects felt a bit out of place. And I'm nitpicking here but the audio levels were a bit uneven at places.
Only real issue I had with the game was that I often felt stuck just looking around for the last enemy. An indicator would've been nice, or even better make it so that enemies pathfind towards you from far ranges if there are few left.
Holy f*** I'm speechless. When I saw the ghost record of my previous run my jaw dropped. You did some really awesome stuff here. By the way, was one of your influences Nuclear Throne?
Anyways, great work. I really hope I don't get paired against you, but if I do, I won't be salty about losing haha
Oh yes, Nuclear Throne and Vlambeer in general are one of my biggest sources of inspiration
Amazing game and super polished! very impressive :)
This is fantastic. The menu is really sleek and the character abilities are awesome. I've tried them all out and I honestly can't pick a favourite, I like them all equally. Having the ancestor ghosts fighting alongside you is really cool and that little 'thank you' when you rescue someone is really good. The enemies are good too, although maybe the jumper could avoid jumping inside the blocks but is only a minor thing. This is definitely one of my top picks!
I was super excited to play this one after playing Biotank and seeing your menu screen teaser in the Discord. I wasn't disappointed. Super fun, super cool. You're a really talented developer and I think you've got a very good chance of going all the way and winning this competition. Nailed every criteria for me. Awesome job.
Your game has the ultimate level of crunch!!! The art style, the impact and responsiveness of attacks, everything!
The concept of the previous round's players helping you across time is GENIUS
I know I am doomed if my game has to go up against yours haha
Wish there were more levels to play
