Historical Accuracy
All art assets were designed based on either actual artifacts or old photographs found in historical documents or articles found online. The location names are an accurate representation of the path they took to King William. Their fall to insanity is referred to with the lead poisoning from tin can pick ups, which was surmised to be one of the main reasons why the expedition failed. A rather mild allusion to cannibalism when you pick up health by walking across dead crewmates. Traces of cannibalism were found in eventual autopsies. While they did not actual find the Hudson's Bay Trading posts that they headed out for in the first place, the encampments serve as a resting point within the game. The Flag on top of the igloo is an exact rendition of the company flag that was being used at the time of the events unfolding. The ending takes a direct excerpt from the letter found at the stone cairn at King William Island. The song during the cutscene is intended to sound like a sea shanty hymn that they "could" have sung, which was the type of music they were used to listening to on board programmed into their hand organ.
Thematic Relevance
The adventure is an interpretation of the failed Franklin Expedition into the unknown Arctic waters in 1948. The characters, items, enemies and areas mentioned in the game are all references to this event. Their arduous journey to King William Island could be considered a rather literal, if unintended exploration of the Arctic as well!

Hello,
My name is Daniel Serrano Robles, and I'm a master's student from Mexico participating in an academic research project on video games and history. We've noticed the existence of some game jams focused on historical themes, and have selected some games to include in our study. We're interested in gathering the perspectives of some of their participants, and have created a survey to do so.
It would be extremely helpful to our research if the creators of this video game could complete the prepared survey. You can find the survey at the following Google Forms link:

We hope we can count on your support. Have a nice day!
Hello Daniel! We’ve noticed that you’ve essentially sent the same message to a number of our jam submissions spanning across several Historically Accurate Game Jam events. Could you please reach out to us through Discord (username: tuile) or via email (historicallyaccurategamejam@gmail.com) in order for us to verify the authenticity of your research project?
Incidentally, I’m also one of the creators for one of the submissions you’ve reached out to (this one), so either way, would like to know more. Looking forward to hearing back from you. Cheers!
Hi. Sure, no problem. I'll reach you. Thanks for the reply.
I made it to the igloo and started a second run, but the game FROZE at this point. Very COOL game and I really liked the sound effects and the running animation is very good.
Very good art. I like systematic jumps. Sometimes the game crashed, but I got the pleasure of playing it.
Very simple jumping game, but nothing wrong with that. Simplicity in games is often good. Still, I think this game needs some complications to stay interesting. Maybe the team could collaborate somehow?
Hillarious sound effects xD the art is great too, especially the animations! The gameplay was very confusing though. Having to decide whether to jump or not over a hole felt counter-intuitive, as well as what each action does to your stats, which made it hard to memorize. Also the game crashed in the second level. I wish there was a way to restart the game without having to reload the page. Regardless, you really went above and beyond with the historical accuracy, so props for that!
I loved the visuals in this, especially the background. The sounds effects where really fun as well. It did feel at times like I was failing jumps that I think the game should have counted as a success. I don't know if the hit boxes on the avoidable objects was a bit too large. I did get a couple of crashes when picking up more crew. Saying that, I enjoyed your game.
