The game looks incredible. Unfortunately, I haven't fully grasped the game yet.
Where am I supposed to go or what am I supposed to do? I understand it's a maze-like game where you have to find the exit while avoiding aliens, but in the two playthroughs I've played, I've only found one of them, and it's been almost impossible to find the gate to the next level. I also haven't found any items to refill my oxygen, so most of the time it's been a matter of walking aimlessly and waiting to die from lack of oxygen.
On the other hand, I think controlling the camera independently of the character's movement isn't a good decision, since the levels are too dark to be able to search for anything, and it becomes quite confusing to move the character with the mouse while moving the camera with the keyboard.
Even so, it looks like a good game, and I'm sure if you keep developing it, you can make it incredible.
P.S. Sorry for saying so many negative things. I wanted to offer constructive criticism to help you improve the game, but it feels like I'm attacking you. I honestly don't mean to upset you. I enjoyed the game, but I think I can contribute more by giving my honest opinion.
Hey, no worries! And itβs very important because while you're building it things can appear very clear to you, but be completely unreachable for the player. Like the controls and camera: I knew it was not ideal, but since I made it (and have played a lot of RTS), for me it felt somewhat natural, but it's clearly not! I will probably try to switch to keyboard control after the jam.
As for the gameplay, it is going through the randomly generated mazes, trying to find oxygen tanks and the gate to the next level, while trying to avoid and being scared (or killed) by the monsters, to see how long you can last. The number of aliens acctually grows with the level, so the game get's harder. Maybe I should have scattered more oxygen too, specially in the first levels!
Anyway, thanks for playing and the feedback!
The pixel art is super cute, and shooting the blaster is soooo satisfying -- the boom shaking the whole screen, and the sound of the blaster being fired makes it sound and feel like a grenade launcher! The lighting is gorgeous as well. Amazing work, and it was fun to play too!
Thank you very much!
Man, this looks cute and fun to play. But you know... the camera is annoying. The focus can get lost to black fog easily. I guess that supports the name of the game? But in negative way. I don't even know what is the point of moving the cam manually.
Right clicks to move is so unnecessary for a simple environment. This is used commonly in games that require precise movement which can be found in MOBA, RTS games, etc. Here, we can just go for common arrow keys or WASD as these are semantics for move controls.
Regardless, this is a solid entry. Good work.
Yeah, I was trying to learn how to make an RTS camera, which might have made more sense with my original idea but it seems to not be a good match for the current gameplay. I might try and switch the controls after the jam. Thank you very much!
Very good! i love the art style and lighting and it just overall fells good to play. I dont love the right clicking to move and wasd for camera but you get used to it.
Thanks!
Man, i realllly need to learn lighting like this. Great work. This was really enjoyable to play.
Thank you!
I really like the use of light to limit the vision, you can really do a lot with that. extremely cool game.
Thanks! Very glad you liked!
The vibe and presentation are excellent. For what is present right now, the decoupled camera is a bit confusing and I find it to move too aggressively - but these are small details that would be hammered out during play testing. Nice job!
Thank you very much!
Nice game. Really nice artsyle and sound effects. If you want some constructive criticism: I would've preferred WASD movement instead of right clicking. Also if you want to stick with mouse click-movement, it would've been easier if when I click and hold, the character will continue to move. Right now I have to click everytime I need to change direction.
Thanks! The original idea was to have a crew, not just one character, so I went with the mouse. I love the idea of click and hold, I think it would smooth things out a lot!
I think this may be my favorite submission in this jam, great job!
Thank you very much!
Really good use of graphics and sound effects, I was very on edge the whole time from the vibe alone. The camera did feel a bit too sensitive, but that didn't take away from the experience at all. Really good game, great job!
Thank you!
Awesome job capturing the vibe of a lone space station crew member! The low field of vision, sound FX, and use of procedural tiling were all used really effectively. I thought the camera and movement system was also pretty unique and I'm excited to see how far I can progress!
Thank you, glad you liked it!
