Greetings! I am Louis, a recent college graduate with experience in game writing and RPGMaker MV. I am teaming up with a former classmate of mine (who specializes in game design) for this Game Jam.

We are looking for an artist to join us on our roughly brainstormed game concept. The visual design of the game has yet to be determined, and we'd be more than happy for a talented artist to drive the project to new heights! The more knowledge you have of RPGMaker MV/MZ, the better! But don't stress if you aren't experienced in it; we'd still love to hear from you.

In our story-driven game with puzzle elements, the protagonist will find himself in a fantastical, dream-like afterlife. For the sake of secrecy, we won't publicly share our entire elevator pitch.  Here is some relevant information that might interest you:

TECHNICAL INFO:

  • We are open to all sorts of art styles, be that minimalist, detailed, monotone, colorful, pixel, 3D (think Baldur's Gate 2), 2D, paintings, or something else I didn't think of!
  • We're hoping to find an artist interested in creating character sprites and other mandatory assets (i.e. a portrait for the protagonist). The sprites do not have to be short or small like the RPGMaker defaults! We are also hoping for an artist who can help with tiles or draw parallax backgrounds, but I can also do (or help with) this if need be. Lastly, any other artistic work (e.g. CGs) would be welcome, but not necessary. If you have any other ideas on what to contribute artistically, let us know!
  • The game will (ideally) last no longer than one hour.
  • We are planning on using plugins, such as Yanfly's. I will (if I haven't already) pay for the use of any paid plugins.
  • In the chance we were to win any cash prize, we plan to evenly split the money between all members.
  • We will communicate primarily through Discord.
  • We're also open to finding a composer for the team, but we haven't begun searching yet.

CONCEPTS / THEMES:

  • Dream-like settings (surreal? dark fantasy?) (think of Jim Henson's Labyrinth - or don't, if you have different ideas!).
  • Life/death, guilt, and the strength to move forward in the face of adversity and oppression.
  • The game will allude to some difficult subject matter regarding mental health. These portrayals will be handled with care and will meet the guidelines of a T rated game.
Comment below if you are interested with what your capabilities / interests are! Feel free to also link a portfolio and/or your Discord username. If you aren't comfortable providing your Discord user in a comment, I can follow up with my own.

Thank you!

Hey, I'm a composer still looking for a jam team and would like to get in contact with your group :)
I've had plenty of experience as a sound designer and composer professionally, and most recently was in the top 0.7% rated for audio in the GameOff2024 Jam.
Below is a link to my portfolio, plus my discord contact if you want to get in touch, I'd recommend checking out the "My Name is Omar" soundtrack as well as "Kitchen Hand."

Discord: stoneguy21

Thanks, and I'm looking forward to hearing back!

I appreciate you reaching out! I'm a big fan of your soundtracks, namely My Name is Omar's! I sent a Discord friend request if you'd like to learn more about our project and possibly join the group!

Hey guys, I might be joining this game jam if I can find the right team. Here's my 3D portfolio, it's probably easier to show off 2d stuff that I've done recently through my actual game submissions.  My most recent game "Prime Directive" featured 2D art assets that I made.
