It's a simple rhythm game that looks nice and plays well enough! I also appreciated the customizable controls and volume, although I wonder if it would help the gameplay to have two sets of controls (WASD + arrow keys in tandem).
Otherwise, although I'm not much of a rhythm game expert and can't add much, I did enjoy this one!
Gonna double up on what CCinoWrath said below - offset and scroll speed settings would be massively appreciated for dealing with some of the more complex/compact strings of notes. I also felt like none of my notes had any impact - the song was unphased whether I flawlessly hit a combo of 50 notes or sat there doing nothing. Lastly I was kind of hoping for some twist to the basic rhythm game "hit the note" gameplay, something that made it feel more touhou, like dodging enemies to the beat (ex:Yoiyami Dancers).
The pixel art is well made and I like the concept - a Touhou rhythm game is a great idea and I hope gets more fleshed out!
Thanks for the comments! (and sorry for taking so long to respond lol) Yeah we planned for a few gameplay changes but it would've taken too much time. Also I think it's valid to want offset and scroll speed settings but we honestly barely pushed through the finish line haha. Turns out making a rhythm game is very very difficult.
Also yeah I completely forgor about muting the music whenever you fail, my bad
As an avid Rhythm Game player of 7-ish years, this game commits the cardinal Rhythm Game sins of lacking offset and scroll speed settings. Especially with the speed and complexity of some of the rhythms, having the option to increase the scroll speed so notes don't cover each other is a must. The charting itself is pretty alright for the simplicity of the game.
I like the art and animation though, and the music is alright
I loved the sprites even if story doesn't make much sense, it's a classic arrow rhythm game so I expected to use the keyboard arrows lol.
Sometimes I feel music style doesn't fit that much, specially on stage 1, and for me, it's only manageable on easy modo u n u.
Graphic Art was Good! Nice Rhythm Game!
Hope more music were clear to hear the beat like okuu's stage theme...
And how dare you laugh at me choosing easy and still make it hard : < (get haunted by T-Flan!)
I had a bug where I tried to play hard mode after normal but the game softlocked. The game's cool (I especially love the visuals), but I think the default sound effect volume should be louder. The feedback for rhythm hits felt pretty awkward.
Really fun! I love how bouncy everything is. The music is also really good and definitely had me in the zone. I also liked the story and character choices used here!
One thing that I would add is an option to change the speed that the notes come at you. I'm a rhythm game player and I generally prefer having notes approach quickly, it helps me differentiate between the different notes better and gives me more accurate timing. The way the game is, it's hard to tell notes apart and when to hit them when they are all clustered together, especially on hard mode. That said, this was really good!
yo, i played but im not a rhythm player so i kinda sucked and gave up at the hard parts. game looks good although the background could perhaps use a little bit of parallax with all the moving parts it sticks out a bit, and the difficulty with downtime in the easy bits into just a wall of inputs is not super consistent. other than that everythings all good for my playthrough.
the style is nice and the core gameplay is clean.
