The idea is not bad in the first place. But the main (and massive, in my opinion) problem that I have with your composition, is the constant dissonance between the instruments. In the beginning, the harp is in major, everything around is in minor. Then it feels like a mix between major, minor, and chromatic randomness. It's unfortunately a bit hard to listen to because of that.
If it's done on purpose, then it's simply not my style and it's fine.
If it's not done on purpose, then I really suggest you going in the basics of music theory (scales, chords, harmonies, etc).
But don't give up! It's just a matter of learning, pretty much anyone can do it. It just needs time, patience and work.
Waaaaay too much reverb and delay on everything. If you want this much reverb / delay on your instruments you should at least automate it so it doesn't happen during a melodic section.
You're coming at this from a very Toby Fox angle, and your rather unusual chord choices maybe suggest you don't know a lot of theory, and if so, you're doing very well. Not too much is out of place here and that means you have a pretty good ear.
I think the main thing is it's not so clear what your melody is supposed to be. New melodies are added all the time but not one really dominates the music. I suggest adopting some kind of musical structure like ABA.
I really like the energy it gives and I like the melodies and the variation that keeps it interesting. At around 2:45, it totally reminds me of the early Pokémon games! Idk, the nostalgia really hits :')
The harp ostinato feels like an ever-present ambience to your forest and also helps set the tone. It is interesting that it is playing a major chord, but the bass underneath is walking up the minor scale. It doesn’t actually sound like it clashes all that much and gives a pleasant dissonant sound which I think works because the harp is so repetitive that it kind of becomes the background to our ears. The brass parts are unique - I like the delay you put on them. My favorite part is the ominous yet simultaneously optimistic piano melody right at the 2:00 mark. Great work and thank you for sharing!
Your track gives off a unique vibe I think. It starts out serene, but quickly becomes dissonant. And then there are the energetic percussion and trumpets. I would prefer for there to be more variation in the harp, as I think it becomes a bit grating over time, but I understand why you kept it like it is to ground the piece and not make it lose the tonal center due to the dissonance. My favourite part about this are surely the melodies, which sound interesting over the dissonant chords. Apart from that, the drums sound nice.
