Interesting game! I loved the premise. I didn't finish it unfortunately as I got frustrated with the sudden game over screen and the finicky hitboxes. I might give it another go later! 🙏
I do have some feedback:
1. Game over was a bit too abrupt - maybe there could be a visible shadow engulfing the screen when approaching the game over zone, so I could steer clear?
2. The collision boxes for interacting with things was a bit too finicky!
3. The papers were black / missing textures so I couldn't read anything
4. While trying to collect the fruit I pressed a bunch of times, then picked up a fruit and accidentally planted it. This happened more than once :X
5. Those things in the woods were terrifying for some reason XD
6. Definitely would've loved a soundtrack for this one!
7. I think the game loop could have more emphasis on light and exploration, rather than planting. I found it interesting
Ty for all the really detailed feedback, will definietly come back to this comment when i get to fixing all the issues
Regarding the missing paper texture, it was an issue with the web export sadly, i left it to last minute cus i thought it would work fine, but then when i built it, like half the game was broken (literally had to disable one of the main shaders cus it just casused the screen to go black in compatibility mode :c ), so if you do intend to give it another go, try the downloadable version (tho you wouldn't be missing out on much if you didn't play it again, cus there is not an ending, just some lore-ish things around the map that try to give reason to why the game has no end lol)
Also originally the game was more centered on exploring and placing lights, adding the generator was kind of a last minute decision (might try and get more exploration stuff in when i do an update)
Great atmosphere in this game from the visuals it would have been great if there was some foresty ambience and some subtle music to go with it. I really like the idea of not venturing too far out of the light and being able to grow the play area.
I'll echo some of the other feedback here that interactions could be improved by making their areas larger.
Neat concept with a solid aesthetic. My only critiques are the area of interaction for items is really tight. There were a lot of times where I wasted a lot of time trying to look at an item at the right angle to pick it up. You could also use more music or sound to amp up the atmosphere. Good work!
Tyy :D
Will most likely do a post jam update at one point, cus there are a ton of small things like the interaction area being small, that i really wanna fix
Will make sure to add more sounds + some music too (already wrote a tiny ambient song for it, but there was a construction near me, so i couldn't record it without bg noise lol)
nice! I'll keep an eye out
Loved the concept and the mood of the universe you created – I died for no reason though, would have loved to see the ending. Good job!
Tyy, really glad u like it :)
Yea there was one bug with the light detection that i couldn't catch before i ran out of time sadly (also u didn't miss out on much, there isn't an ending, only a small conclusion for why there isn't an end lol)
Love the visuals. Great aesthetic!
tyy :)
The visuals were super cool & cohesive. Is there an ending to the game or do you just go until the demands are too high to keep up?
tysm :D
really wanted to have an ending, but i didn't have enough time, so the only real conclusion is a note the player can find from a previous prisoner, where they talk about how even tho their sentence is over, they were kept working
I enjoyed the idea, the environment was awesome
tyy :)
This is a crazy cool concept. Well done! You nailed the aesthetic.
Tyy :)
Honestly i wanted to do a lot more with the concept, i just didn't have the time sadly
I really like the vibe of old games like that
Ty :D
