Excellent work! The music and art immediately pulled me in as I fumbled my way to figure out what what happening. The only things I can think to improve on is some info when mousing over things in the bottom menu, it’s weird having to plant the tree then read about it. I’m also not sure what sunlight does, maybe because I ended up with so many resources as I figured out what to do. Also an offscreen damage indicator, it took me a while to figure out something was under attack; I heard the noises, zoomed out and didn’t notice anything but I think night was just ending so it stopped anyway.

Also tech tree, I’m still laughing about that after playing for 20 min. Keep it up!

WOW, this feels like a well-put-together game!

I’m not sure what I was expecting. But this blew me away!

It’s difficult to not critique it as a commercial game, because it’s just so solid.

You guys also managed to organize really well. More people on a jam isn’t necessarily better. But this came together just perfect.

First thing is music made me feel like Age of Empires. Setting the tone. And the rest of audio was a nice backup to it.

The graphics are really pleasant, and blend well with the world.

And enemies, coupled with not knowing what was in the fog created tension, and interest.

It also felt like you guys did a bunch of play-testing, and answered a lot of potential things a new players could trip over.

Wishlist/critique:

  • It would be nice to see “grown” tree stats before planting.
  • It would be nice to get ‘general overview’ of what a tree does on hover/mouseover
  • When in a deficit, it’ll say “+-2 water” instead of “-2 water”
  • it would be nice to use more screen real-estate
  • it’s still difficult to see behind other trees (even with slight seethrough)
  • right-click to destroy isn’t explained, or “confirmed” on grown trees
  • a ‘building in progress’ bar (particularly for tech trees) would be nice
  • there’s no real challenge or skill. I get that it’s a jam, and you’re on a time constraint. But there was no actual exploring (could see all factories instantly) or threat. You could pretty much just plonk down trees with impunity. This mean currently the game doesn’t have progression or replayability. It’s your biggest challenge at the moment to get to a commercial title.

Overall, it’ll be cool to see where this game goes!

I don’t believe for a second that it’s gonna be left to wallow after the jam.

And I hope to get it on Steam/GOG some time in the near future :)

This game is a gem! I really enjoyed the vibe and the approach to the theme. I would have loved a bit more challenge during nighttime and perhaps a bit more info on the functions of each tree. Well done!

Very interesting concept! We really enjoyed playing this game :D

The only small suggestion we have is to change the font of the resources panel during the day, as it it was a bit hard to read. Maybe putting it in black during the day and white during night would help!

In any case, great game!!

I really enjoyed this game, good work! Gave me simcity 2000 vibes!

Couple things that might help, descriptions on each tree to say what it does, and what nutrients each gives. Also the numbers on the top left were a little hard to read in the day, because they were almost the same color as the clouds, maybe something could be done to make them stand out more.

Great work!

Guys, your game is a hidden gem. Definitely, one of the most interesting games I played in this edition.

I think some more information would be great, like being able to see how much sun/water/nutrients a plant would generate, before planting it.

That said, great entry, hope you get a good position in the final rank 😊

Really aesthetically pleasing.  I am playing with a trackpad so unfortunately I couldn't drag myself around the map.  But I enjoyed playing it for a bit all the same.  Nice work!

Wow! This game is just beautiful. At first I was a little annoyed that I didn't know how to do ... anything, and the game was a bit easy after I figured out the basics ... but I figured it out, and the way the trees grow the world ... just amazing. Great job!!! I think this could also be grown (heh) into a full game pretty easily, all the bones of it are there!!

I liked how the gameplay sort of transitioned from resource management to map exploration. Also you absolutely nailed it with the pixel art, looks great!

Honestly a lovely and refreshing concept. If I were to ask for some improvements I'd say I wish you could see what trees do before you plant them. And am I right to assume sunlight (Tall Tree) wasn't actually utilized? Cool submission though!

The implementation of the theme was spot on, i really loved the moment where I realized that I play as the plantlife that overgrows the remains of the old civilazation. A bit of a tutorial or a clearer naming convention would be good. I had almost finished the game when I placed my first default tree and I realized that it was the only money generating tree of the game.
It was certantly a lot more fun when I noticed that it wasnt just about waiting.
The graphics really where amazing and totaly carried me into the world.
The music was great and I loved that there was some variation but I think you could make it hit a bit earlier. (I think it was day 9 when I first heard something else than the first loop, might have missed it earlier tho.)
For my personal taste I would have prefered a little less vibrato in the melody as it gave the theme something really uneven and unsettiling which didnt fit the game for me

Gameplay wise i think the enemys could be a little more threatening. There are more of a nuisance right now.
The ending was also quit overwhelming.

I name a lot of negative feedback here, but that really just because I think the game is already great and still has a lot of potential.
I would love to see where this is going if you decide to continue developing after the jam.
