I really enjoyed the entire intro sequence — starting the game and hearing the eerie ambiance as things pan into view, popping out of the bottle with a juicy sound, and the interactive tutorial… it all did a great job of hooking and teaching.

the art is fantastic. the monster has this kind of ugly beauty, it’s just wonderful. and I loved the ending cutscene — wow. during gameplay I noticed the eye seems to be about 20-30 degrees off from looking at the cursor, which was a bit weird.

I was thinking it’d be awesome if the camera zoomed out as the monster grew — and then it did, it’s a really cool progression. that said, I kept wanting to zoom out more, as the clarity of the gameplay is not ideal, but zooming out more might hurt the presentation… I guess it’s actually fine as it is, as the hurtbox (the eye) is not that big, and there are nice markers for off-screen enemies.

the gameplay was initially exciting, however it felt a bit samey towards the end. the progression is cool, the gameplay just felt the same throughout. the pacing is decent and it’s not too long, but in my opinion it could be tighter.

while the overall ambiance/music is solid, in totality it felt a bit too “safe” or generic for my taste. there are a lot of fitting sfx, but there are some inconsistencies — e.g. the missile explosion is very loud, lacks polyphony, is not affected by the volume slider, and I think it’s not positional. I suspect some of the other sfx have similar issues, but I didn’t analyze that too closely.

I was missing a proper fullscreen option, as the maximized window leaves a lot of noise on the screen.

regarding the low amount of ratings for such a cool game: I guess it’s a bit late now, but I think the game page would benefit from having some screenshots and maybe a gif, as you need to put in more effort to convince people to try your game when it’s download-only. it’s a shame that C# isn’t supported on web.

anyway, this is a stellar entry — great work and coordination by the entire team!

Dang I can't believe this only got rated by 9 people. It's genuinely super high quality, fun and well made. Do you think you could have done a web build for this? Usually web gets way more plays than download only games.

Such seems to be the life of DL-only games. It was written entirely in C#, which was the language of choice for most of our programmers, so web export's not an option. Still, it's nice to see some people go out of their way to play it, thanks for checking it out!

Extremely good game. I could not beat the level before the final battle, but I enjoyed everything till then.

Very balanced, lots of different enemies, and assimilation is really a core mechanic and not a gimmick.

What else to say? High quality content, polished beyond expectation and even opensource! gotta ask: what is mainscenecheat? :D

Thank you for playing! MainSceneCheat in the source code is a scene that we used as an entry point during development for quicker gameplay testing. It's basically the same as the MainScene but without the intro/tutorial. Wouldn't recommend using this method though, keeping the scenes synced is too much work.

Very fun! Lots of cool mechanics here! The art was great and I loved the ending comic. This game very much reminded me of the grey goo game and I loved how it actually felt like you were getting bigger and bigger. I think you could have made the game slightly harder though as I never really felt threatened during it. Great job overall!!

Really fun game! I love the art style, the game looks really polished for a 9 day jam. The tentacles grabbing everything at the end was a really nice touch too I loved watching it each time. I liked the look of the eyeball turning red when I was gonna die, but I it did make it kinda hard to tell if I was like really about to die or just need to heal kinda soon if that makes sense. I liked that the last level was really difficult, took me quite a few tries to beat it, but I would've liked to see the difficulty ramp up a bit smoother towards that. Overall this game is super awesome, I had a lot of fun playing it and it's a super impressive entry!

You guys really nailed it with the art. The tentacle physics were cool, but felt a little unwieldy at times. I could also use more feedback for when I got hit. The ship sounds could use a little work. A lot of the time I didn't realize I was about to die. Great work!

Very impressive and quite well done! I found the slime monster thing a bit cute too. (If someones struggling to beat final few levels: get up close to the giant ships and keep trying to grab them, it deals a lot of damage and the closer your are the faster you can grab them again and again)

Genuinely insane quality, especially for the timeframe

Could easily see it becoming a full fledged game

Very good game! Especially considering the 9-day time frame
