I loved this! Having the previous resources visible but forever out of reach give such a strong sense of progression. I’m not into the flat shading look but everything is cohesive (something I struggle with immensely) so I think overall it still looks good. My only mechanical comment is while clicking on the tree to go to it, it was best to reclick to start harvesting otherwise you’d start harvesting, move a little and possibly start and get into a sorta goofy state. But again, super duper minor. I feel like I’m always trying to capture a sense of scale that you got with the end but never get it right.

I’ve also had my fair share of last minute pivots, don’t know what the original idea was like but I’m really happy to have gotten to play this.

Thanks for the kind words pdil. I'm glad the visuals are some what cohesive, I'm not an artist but when time allows (or sometimes if it doesn't) I try to throw things together quickly in blender.

I wanted the one-click approach to be really streamlined and user friendly but I wasn't able to do enough fixes in time.

If you're curious my original idea was a game where you grew your wrestling promotion by playing wrestling matches out through a card game. So it was a complete 180 to this, I wish I had settled on this initially, but I'm still happy I got it done to some degree.

I love the mood in this game.

There’s something compelling about sailing between floating islands in the mist of a flood.
I would have loved more incentive for gathering wood—maybe the boat getting visually damaged, having to make room to save people... You have something special here, and I’d love to see more of it! Great job!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words Turb. I absolutely wanted more visuals to show the health state of the raft and perhaps tie the max health to the rising water levels so the situation grows more and more desperate. I also wanted to have a narrative based around escaping this situation with a community of others so expanding/upgrading the raft would certainly fit that.

Weirdly compelling!

I wish there was an ‘atmosphere’ rating for something for games like these.

If anything, this really goes to show how good a game can be without adding the frills (options, keybinds… etc)

Developer(+1)

An "atmosphere" rating would be great actually! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've yet to submit a game with some of the extra like options and keybinds but until I nail the planning aspect of my jam dev they'll stay a dream haha.

Thanks for playing!

There's a vibe to this game that shines through despite the lack of polish. Pretty neat!

One small note about something that's presumably not just a result of time pressure - circling on the spot made the camera wiggle more than I'd have liked. A small deadzone in the middle or something might be an improvement.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I'm glad some of the atmosphere I wanted to inject into the game is there despite the presentation. Unfortunately I started one idea for 4 days and didn't love it so started this game instead. That lead to me trying to do a lot in a very short amount of time. I think I sorted the camera day 1 and never touched it again so you're absolutely right that it needed more love.

Thanks for playing, I appreciate the feedback.

Love the idea of constantly going up in water level, was left a bit confused at why my ship was breaking at some points.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. The damage is timer based for the most part. I had to drop the narrative I wanted to add which would explain that you'd barely thrown together a raft in time to escape the first storm.

Cheers for playing!

Creative, also the concept of having islands on top of you that you can reach as the storm occurs. I wish chopping up wood happened by only clicking once though, instead of keeping the button pressed

Developer

Thanks for playing. I certainly would have liked to refine the input if id started work on it a little earlier.

This game was a vibe. Pensive. The seamless controls between the raft and island were great. Lovely ending.

Developer(+1)

I'm really glad you enjoyed the ending. It was probably my favourite part to do, writing the music, then syncing it. Thanks for playing!

fun idea. I loved the music and the way the game looks. Although sometimes my camera clipped above the upper island and obscured my vision. The controlls also sometimes felt a bit strange when I couldnt get up my raft.

I see the theme integration with the water level, i still feel like there could have been a bit more growing involved in the gameplay.
Somehow I think of water levels as "rising" and not as "growing" but perhaps thats just me being picky.

The ending was super cute and emotional and overall I had a good time playing.

Developer

Thanks for checking it out Jim.

I 100% agree, especially the clipping and input issues. I had worked on a completely different game for 4 days before I started on this idea so sadly I ran out of time to fix some of these bugs.

My interpretation of the theme was based on a situation that's growing worse\deperate. It maybe doesn't translate well enough as I dropped a lot of narrative in favour of finishing.
