How does your game fit the Magical Girl Genre?
My character uses an enchanted gohei to fight off oni, in pursuit of gathering the three Japanese regalia and defeating the evil Orochi. There's plenty of magic, aaaaand Sailor Moon references.
Which theme(s) do you pick?
5. and 4.; also arguably Story Time
How does your game fit those theme(s)?
This is meant to be a Magical Girl retelling of the Shinto tale of Susanoo no Mikoto and Orochi, the eight-headed dragon; that rough checks Dragon's Field, and it is an old story. For the Story Time thing, I honestly am not sure I had enough time to complete it on account of the weird inconsistencies of Unity... but it's at its heart, at least!
If you follow any of the optional challenges, elaborate as you like.
The tale is meant to be of Orochi coming back from the dead, and Susanoo (as Susanoo Mask) and his protege Magical Girl set out to gather the Grass Cutting Blade, the Eight Spoked Mirror, and the Jewel of Yasaka. The possession of these three legendary artifacts renders Orochi, the eight-headed dragon of excess and infinite hunger, vulnerable to her magical attacks.
Were the assets for your game made during the jam? Elaborate as you see fit.
All art assets are done by me, sometimes by hand and ink. That said, I'm usually a Godot user and had GPT assist me in working with Unity. (It relates to a class I might be teaching, but it's been a few years since I used Unity prolifically, and I may even have some influence over that... but still.) Some of its bug-tracing and platform-inconsistency-chasing code is still in there.
