Cool game atmosphere, very cool project!

atmosphere wise and visually it's awesome !!!! on the par with a lost quirky japanese psp or dreamcast game !!!!!

considering the difficulty of the (supposedly random?) levels, I found the player character to be not reactive and agile enough.

(bigger jumps? a bit faster run? faster jump and fall?)

This was neat, the art is great, and the good ending was hilarious!

I still have the same complaints as others regarding the feel of jumping and getting stuck on objects. I died a few times before getting through it, which isn't bad in and of itself. But the deaths felt kinda artificial, basically it felt like the game was screwing up my attempts to jump over objects, not me.

I did eventually figure out that sliding worked better, which for some of them makes sense, (clothes line for example), others not so much (like that solid block with a tub attached to it).

Overall though a decent runner for a jam game, good work!

I really like the setup to this game. If I woke and saw a kaiju outside my door, I'd probably feel the same way.

The gameplay was simple, but had a nice "one more try" type of appeal. The  aesthetics were also solid, though I am a bit of a stickler against different sprite resolutions being used on the same screen. Apart from that, I think the game came together very well!

great work! The art work is really nice, and the design of the Kaiju really cool. The design all felt well done. I kept getting stuck on objects until I realized that it is best to slide past any rooftop obstacles vs. attempting to jump over them, and then it was smooth sailing. Good job!

I like the art style and the mix of 2d and 3d. The kaiju is especially cute and the main character has a lot of personality :D

I think i found a bug. After my third try i immediately won after a few seconds. The mech just appeared.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback and I'm glad you like the art style, it was a real pleasure for me to create it all!

It seems to me that I must have encountered this bug once but I haven't reproduced it for a while, thanks for notifying me anyway.

First of all, thanks to everyone who played my game, but I realized it was too difficult. So I've decided to make a small update to make it more enjoyable to play and not too frustrating (though it won't be easy).

The changes:

  • Colliders on the edges of buildings removed
  • Fireball hit while jumping no longer slow your speed in the air
  • Improvements to some obstacle colliders
  • Kaiju attack cooldown reduced

The update is now available.

Cool idea, it reminded me of Canabalt. I kept getting stuck unfortunately and couldn't make it very far though, I'll give it another shot at some point!

Developer(+1)

I didn't know Canabalt but i can understand the comparison!

Now that the difficulty has been updated, i hope you'll enjoy it!

the player character felt very clunky to control, his jump felt very sluggish and his slide even more so, the fireballs had a very large hitbox and most of the time avoiding them was impossible, so I just had to take it. the map was randomly generated which caused the level design to feel borderline unfair at times, the really annoying thing though was that you didn't even fight the kaiju, the game ends once you enter the mecha. I feel a bit disappointed, but it was still worth playing and an enjoyable challenge.

Developer (1 edit)

I saw the difficulty after seeing other people feedbacks. I've played my game hundreds of times, so for me, I knew how to play naturally to counterbalance these drawbacks. So I've adjusted a few things in the new version and it should be better for now.

I also understand about the last part, but like many of us, i was running out of time and i really wanted to challenge myself on every part of this game, first time i work with pixel art, even for the music I made myself. That's why I couldn't do the last part with a fight against the Kaiju (which would have been even more fun for sure). Maybe in a future version.

And thank you for your feedback!

The visuals are a lot of fun, I'm actually curious is this 2.5D? Kind of challenging but once you get in a good groove its nice and smooth! The Kaiju is very cute too, I like how it's like parkour too, didn't expect that!

Developer(+1)

Yes it's actually 2.5D! I like this visual style, so I tried, even if it's not perfect.

You've tried the first version, which was really difficult. I didn't realize how difficult it was at first because I'd played it almost a hundred times, so for me it was almost easy, but then I saw with others that it really wasn't... So I adjusted a few elements and it should be better for most people now.

Thank you for your feedback!

Great art direction!
The tough gameplay brought back some Prince of Persia trauma flashbacks xD !
Nice job!!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I can understand, especially on the first version which was far too complex, sorry to have awakened these traumas...

And thank you!
