Description
This is an orchestral piece with synths in some parts. Due to the lack of skill (and time to polish said skill) I didn't really get to do this track as I intended. I would've liked to add the synths to the orchestral part, instead of them being separated. Also due to time constraints I had to just copy and paste the orchestral theme to the end just so I could get the 2 minute mark. And also couldn't get some custom art.
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
This track would play as the player gets ready to face their final hurdle. I imagine the player would be trapped in another world and to be free they must complete this final challenge. I think the music has some bittersweet parts, which could also mean that even though the player wants to go back and be free they also feel like the adventure was fun and will miss it.

One of the sleeper bangers of the jam! Fantastic stuff, I like the use of the synths into the keyboard section. That flowed surprisingly well, something I would fail to make work haha. Well done!
i really loved the composition in this one wowow it was so pretty and has an amazing feel to it, i love that waltz kinda style
Realllly nice work!! Well scored, great melody and scoring! Really stunning! I think all it needs now is a little build up to a big section!
Bravo!
Wow this felt like I was in Howl's Moving Castle, really lovely orchestral piece. I really like the synth at the start with the organ in amongst the rest of the composition, I think what would've made it better is if you reused it and moulded it into the rest of the piece somehow as it does feel slightly abrupt in its usage, so it's a shame you didn't quite get to see that through like you mentioned. Otherwise, very evocative and really nice to listen to!
Hi again.
First of all, the strong aspects: Name? Yes.
Melodies? Check. Powerful and memorable. Wonderful job there.
The track has a high looping potential which is quite important for almost any game. It retains its interest well, so good job there too.
I also love the general feeling of a song, it is quite sweet, yet urgent. Warm, yet sometimes as if distant or perhaps even nostalgic? Great variety of colors in shorter terms :)
Some feedback for improvement: While I feel that the synth absolutely can work here, I see why others might have found it jarring: All of the orchestral instruments in your mix have softer sounds and the difference is especially noticeable because of their reverb, lower volume and/or increased attack time. So, to make it meld in more, I'd suggest extending synth's attack period, apllying a little bit of reverb to make it leave a sort of musical glue and perhaps playing with transitions a little bit, as it makes the listener more comfortable and humans love to predict things (Important: sometimes... we do need to surprise them, ahaha)
Overall, thank you for posting the song, I've quite enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for the detailed feedback!
Still messing around with synths, so all of the feedback I've been receiving will definitely help me!
I really liked the 2 halves thing you had going honestly!
I also just really meshed with the melody here! Good Job!
I really like the composition here, it captures that striving towards freedom feeling well! I like how the main motif walks around various instruments. and I like the bits of piano reversal too! Did the palindrome jam have some influence on your style? and did you take any inspiration from anything while making this?
Very nicely done!
Ha! I knew for sure I recognized you from somewhere, so it was from the palindrome jam! Glad to see that you're still making music!
Thanks for the feedback! I think that the most valuable thing I took from the palindrome jam was how to take on some weird challenges, so it taught me how to streamline my workflow a bit better. As for the inspiration, very early on I kinda heard in my head something akin to those japanese rhythm games songs, where there's orchestral and electronic elements mixed together. The problem is that I never made anything close to that, so in just 48h it was pretty much impossible to study that style and be able to replicate it, so I just ended up making something I was more confortable with, inspired by JRPGs.
Hope to see you in the future!
That's great to hear that the palindrome jam helped with workflow, such a valuable thing that honestly gets underrepresented sometimes, thanks for sharing! And I can see the rhythm game inspirations, it was one of the first things that came to mind listening to this actually! I was particularly reminded of some Rhythm Heaven pieces. I think it's pretty interesting to see how those different genres have influenced the process of what you've made!
And same here, hope to see you in the future as well, keep up the good work!
Really great melody, as a whole feels very jrpg inspired in style 😁.
The synth layered with the organ was a bit too aggressive and loud to my taste, and like Slav already mentioned making it a bit softer and maybe a bit lower in volume, could maybe help it blend a bit better with the organ imo.
Great work!
It definitely was inspired by JRPGs! And thank you for the feedback!
As others have said, the orchestration is really great. I especially love that chord progression, definitely nails the "gearing up for a final challenge" vibe. The saw wave parts do sound a little jarring in context, but with some processing to make it less harsh and some transitional textures (white noise, reversed cymbals, etc. whichever works) in and out of the sections I think they'd fit right in and add a ton more to the overall story of the track. Great stuff!
Thanks for the feedback, still trying to wrap my head around synths!
Very nice work! I really like the organ. The emotion is just right
love the orchestral bits, the spiccato strings give a sense of urgency as if chasing freedom. the switch up to the organ and keys in the middle made for a pleasant detour that felt emotionally resonant. really pretty overall!
the clear-cut juxtaposition of synthetic and orchestral is AWESOME! i love the the orchestral build-up with the woodwinds and strings together, and the reversed piano is a small but nice ornamental touch. :~)
the smidge of modal mixture here and there is tasty! i feel like i'm in my own version of a Studio Ghibli movie as i listen to this... a fantastical world that i'm trapped in...
Thank you!
I think the orchestral portions overall were great. Adding some attack/release time and maybe a low pass filter onto the synth chord sound in the middle would make it fit more seamlessly into the mix. Nice work!
Thank you for the feedback!
Great work! Orchestration is on point and I love the various use of articulations to really give each instrument its own unique voice. Each section of the orchestra is mixed incredibly well despite the short time frame, and it feels like that particular section is sandwiched nicely between the synth and organ interludes. The final section giving way to piano and rhodes before swinging back into the main melody again was a great way to subvert expectation - I fully expected the track to end on a piano melody. Great work!
Thanks for the detailed feedback!
hiya, found you from my submission(thx for cheking it out!), pretty awesome to see another finished track in such short time
everything after 1:00 hits the right spot, im feeling my heart(im wearing headphone at max volume so acutally feeling the bass drags me down hard XD)
Nice composition! The sound design is really cool. Great work<3
Thank you!
Wish I would have your talent, that all there is to it! With more time this would definitely become everything it should be, I hope you'll update it at some point!
Thanks for the kind words!
I'm sure with more time you could flesh it out even more but the actual composition is actually super good!!! Very well done!! :)
Thanks!
I actually liked the way the synths were separated, and if you hadn't told me that you copy pasted the orchestra part for time, I would have complimented it as a good 'return to home' structure (especially with the sfx at the beginning and end). It's a nice little piece overall, though one suggestion is to lessen the low brass near the 1 minute mark.
Nice Work!
Thanks for the feedback! I kinda ran out of time when adjusting the levels of each instrument, so the brass got a bit too overpowering!
