WAH! I love it when the synthesizer becomes the main rhythm holder! Nice solo. Hell, I liked that sometimes appearing, hard synth ending parts of the track the best..... wah!
P.S. RAWR
This is a bop, and fits perfectly for a shooter. Nice work!
I could totally see this playing over some sort of mega drive shmup, great work
Thank you, that's the style I'm trying to learn right now! :D
The movement and energy in this lead is great for a battle theme, and the synth choices are solid for the space setting. As others have said though I do think it could use some more variation in some parts. I really like that lead moving around super fast, but with energy that high I think breaking it up into some more sections where the lead moves slower or lets other instruments take over could help keep it as fresh as possible. Very fun track overall and great work for 48 hours! :)
Thanks for the feedback! I want to keep working on this track after the rating period is over so it's good to have some ideas.
This gave me some spacesynth vibes, which i personally really like.
Like others have mentioned you could expand on this with some additional parts, like maybe adding some orchestral hits to accent some beats could be cool (just an idea i got, mostly from the spacesynth feel).
Good stuff!
Thank you! That's helpful, I felt there is some instrument missing in those gaps but couldn't figure out what to do, I'll try the orchestral hits and see how it goes.
Really nice job! I enjoyed the sounds, and really enjoyed the music! I think you might consider having a secondary melody in the parts where only the bass is happening or a drum fill or something, to keep the energy moving forward.
Bravo!
Thanks! Yeah it was bothering me that some parts were a bit empty and I wanted to fill it with something but I couldn't figure out what, and then the jam was over XD
The drums here hit SO HARD, it's amazing. I like how you took the retro aesthetic as an opportunity to make a baroque-y banger!
I only wished you would've expanded a bit more on the story part, but I also understand that the type of arcade games your'e referencing with this usually had a minimal story themselves.
Either way, this is a certified BANGER, and I enjoyed it very much. Fantastic work!
Thanks! Yeah I didn't put too much thought into the story yet; this is my first time doing a music composing jam so I'm not really sure how these things work, but I feel inspired to flesh out the story and add some more songs now...maybe even make a game out of it some day!
That would be awesome! I'd love to see it happen!
Kewl lil track!
Thank you!
Good work - digging the choice of synth patches in this. A lot happening but the mix never becomes too busy as a whole. Percussion feels a little understated but the variety of lead-lines and supporting instruments do a good job of bolstering those lead melodies. Made for a fun listen! Best of luck in the jam. :)
Thank you! Yeah, the percussion was a bit "set it and forget it" XD I'm glad the mix as a whole came across well, I was trying to keep the intensity going the whole time as much as possible without being overwhelming. Good luck to you as well!
Great work! It sort of reminds me of the Deltarune Chapter 2 soundtrack, which is good! I think you did a great job with the chord progression and bassline, the part where it descends for a while is my favourite in the track. The frantic melody is perfect for a fast-paced shooter as well.
Thank you! I'll have to listen to that soundtrack, trying to get more inspiration for oldschool style videogame music.
The slides are very nice for a space theme!
I also like the fast paced melody. Great for building tension with the key your using which I assume to be a minor key.
I think it could stand to fit the theme a bit more but the song is really good on its own!
Thank you! Yes it is a minor key tho I didn't even really give it much thought, I just kind of wrote what sounded good XD
Very cool and very funky :)
Thank you!
Very cool and very funky :)
Gave it a listen homie, and I gotta say, I love what you've made. I picked to rate yours at random but I'm glad I did. Solid track with great use of a arpped/chugging bassline, reminds me of mega man stage tracks. 6.5/10 keep on composing! ^^
Thank you! Yes, I'm trying to learn the genre better...once I got the bassline the rest just kind of fell into place. My brain must have remembered all the retro games from my childhood XD
the blaring synth that appears every so often and at the end really catches my attention! it fills the lower spaces of the piece as the rest of the lead synths are going at it with such rapid rhythms... nice choice! ^_^
a great theme for steering your spaceship and avoiding enemy ship fire to! the monophonic melodies throughout work well with the retro arcade vibes~
Thanks! Yeah I kind of imagine the blaring synth notes to be putting your foot on the accelerator and going into hyperspace. I'm glad it gave off retro arcade vibes, that's what I was going for...now I just need to make a game to go with it :D
ough if you do get around to making the game for it, that would be heckin' awesome possum!!
