Description
Electronic/Classical, using ableton. I've been playing alot of hollow knight lately, awaiting silksong, so this was composed trying to blend the somber piano stylings of Christopher Larkin with something a bit more my style.
Theme

There's something malevolent in this land, and the only way out is through it's cage. Don't believe a word it says, it's in there for a reason.

your composition is quite a slow burn — a slow and steady tempo that has some really highlighted sections thanks to the repeated presence of the "verses", so to speak. i really like how at 3:37, we have a brief bridge that carries us out of the oppressive surroundings even if just for a moment. nice work! the sorrowful and emotional arrangement really works well despite how long it is. ^^
Simultaneously complex, sensual, hardcore and lite.... Beautiful piano part, perfect combination of different synths, deep, well suited to the right moments bass... and of course - creepy, barely audible creepy effects in the background!
I can definitely say that you made a great track to play!
P.S. Rawr
9 min long track is crazy, and the quality is at the top for the entire thing! It kind of sounds like a cold clear glass of water from the glaciers if you know what I mean. Great job :D
Quite the track length! Opening up with some piano was a nice move and helps really set the mood. The second section with the PWM sounding saw is cool but I feel like there may have been a better patch to lead with. The supporting instrumentation there is wonderfully moody and ambient, doubly so when the piano really comes back in with some large chords and movement.
The gradual building of the bass is pretty well done - once it really starts clicking around the 3 minute mark and the cut-off opens up just enough to let some more tonality into it, even more effective with the use of the offset delay. Taking a moment here to appreciate the string work throughout; soft articulations, waving back and forth and sometimes almost disappearing entirely in the mix. I like how they don't feel omnipresent but instead lull back and forth.
There is some neat sound design throughout the movement, and in particular I really enjoyed the noise bursts that felt like someone breathing. Reminded me of something that Akira Yamaoka would do in Silent Hill, especially the second game. Great for building atmosphere and creating tension.
All in all, solid work. I can hear some of the Larkin affinity in it, but it felt very much your own. The piano playing toward the end displayed some great use of articulation and dynamics to push the mounting tension. Best of luck!
Wow a song longer than a whole average classical movement! its great!
Thought that I had to mention that heavily compressed ableton footage in the itch release lmao, so funny.
I was like, "Gloo's Lair? Isn't that from the Enemy Encounter Music Jam?" and it was.
Thankfully the link was on the page itself and in the comments here.
You seemed to accidentally have submitted the wrong project 😁.
Before checking the real submission, I was a bit stumped on how this was meant to be hollow knight inspired 😅.

Vibe was on point in this, the little background sfx were a great addition.
With the piano synth combo this also kinda gives a bit of a Celeste feel to it.
Good job!
"Don't believe a word it says, it's in there for a reason."
But with a groove this funky I might not have a choice, it makes a very compelling argument. Cool stuff! Not entirely sure what to think of the sound effects, they seemed a bit disconnected from the rest of the song but overall very interesting.
Nice work! Super jazzy, great chords and melody interaction. Bravo!
Cool track !
Nice funky feeling, the bass line is very cool.
Some of the sound effects suprised me at first, but it's still nice
I love the more groovy part at 2:25, made me though of Persona OST with this synth. Good job on the tempi changes also, it does give some nice variety
Well done !
Cool use of electric bass, and I thought the ambient noises you put in were really interesting!
