"drowning in light" is a strong start before we dive really deep into the shadows in this submission. i really like the more melodic atmosphere of "re-forget" to wrap up the otherwise gritty and dark atmosphere maintained by the middle of the soundtrack! the guitar melodies are also so enthralling... :3c

altogether, a nice and well-composed soundtrack!! i'm quite curious if you had a specific videogame genre in mind when you were working on these tracks?

The emotional storytelling across these songs are really great, my personal favorite's probably "blackened air" (awesome name btw) as the turning point in the story and with just how gritty and controlled it is in its ambiance. Ending on that guitar is great too, giving it a breath of fresh air. That air sells me personally on the freedom theme, as of the submissions I've heard so far this is among the top in terms of making that freedom feel earned. Great job!

All about horror so I'm excited to really get into this. The opening of drowning in light is as dark as expected. Great choice of voicings here; offsetting the organ sound with piano to emphasize the chords is clever. Percussion adds some nice rhythm and pulse to the track, and I do like how the snare is heavily processed. Makes it stand out in a good way.

Daybreak Illusion has some really gorgeous pads at the beginning, loosely reminding me of some of the more ambient works in Resident Evil 7 in particular (think Floating In Between). There's some great use of the stereo-field here with plenty of elements panned to really take up space. The lack of percussion in this is a boon - keeps this track feeling airy and suspenseful without having a grounding rhythmical element to attach yourself to.

Blackened Air has some neat sound design off the bat. Great motion at play and the mixing does wonders for this to really sell the ambience. The very faint tones that we do hear are all well defined but never too "obvious". Of course the mid-way point hits and we are thrown into this distorted grinding that begins to fade out as the bass creeps back in. Genuinely some incredibly creepy feelings here.

Self Encounter (great title) is the busiest of the bunch. There's no ignoring that tribal percussion and the unrelenting metallic screeches and distorted squeals. I can't quite put my finger what this reminds me of - some kind of late PS1 or early PS2 title that opted to lean more into sound design than outright notation. This track is as oppressive as they come - one you breathe a sigh of relief over when it stops playing and you've escaped the threat.

Re-Forget has some more standard instrumentation, which is a welcome change after the previous tracks. Nice melodies and just the right amount of post-processing to really make the individual elements pop. This actually reminds me of something Akira Yamaoka would do in and around the Silent Hill 1 era. I think the guitar is just a little too MIDI sounding for my tastes, so I'd probably swap it out for live or add some humanization to get it to sit a little better in the mix. Hell, an clean or very slightly overdriven electric guitar would really lean into that Yamaoka vibe if that was what you were going for.

As a whole, this is some great work. I love horror so seeing people intentionally lean into that is always going to spur my interest. Production across the board was pretty good and the tracks are all distinct. Great job! Best of luck.

It's cool to have an psychological horror one ! I love the ambient textures and the guitar at the end. Besides the last track much brighter than the rest, I'm not sure the horror genre fits the theme super well though. We understand the theme affiliation though the text description, not necessarily through the music. Great job anyway ! :)

Sup homie, gave your tracks a listen! You have really good ambient textures developed and to be fair ambient music is tough to keep entertaining enough to not bore you but also simple enough to constantly remind you that you are listening to music and/or a 'tune'.  "drowning in light" especially is really good with this, only thing I would note is that 'discernable loop point' at 2:09. but other than that it is very well done. Also the drums you use in "self encounter" I really enjoyed. I got a knack for cinematic-sounding drums XD to be honest. Also the instrumentation and overall change in textures/direction in "re-forget" was a stellar contrast. The amount of music produced, the soundscapes, the moods developed, everything---give this submission a really wonderful impression. 7.0/10 keep on composing! ^^

I really enjoyed the different experiences you proposed in such a little time frame. Yes some of the mixing would have be nice to revisit but there's really a lot to like overall. Self encounter is really reminiscent of a bunch of horror games, I really liked it, would have liked to have your take on why facing yourself warrants that atmosphere just for storytelling sake. Enjoyable OST overall!

I liked this! had those horror elements for sure, I loved the last track the most

The panning on track 4 with the percussion was great! It gave a sense of panic and urgency which is perfect for a danger theme in a horror game.

I do think that at times the soundtrack as a whole can feel like rather generic horror music. It's not a bad thing per se, but because of that, the final track was my favorite because it was really unique while I could still imagine it in a horror game.

Creepy stuff! I liked the ambient tracks the most. Btw not sure how you achieved it but listening to this music I could imagine the whole game really easily!

Good Work you did well for the time crunch :)

I'd say the ambient parts from tracks 2-4 are my personal picks out of this EP. I do think that the drums in the 1st track and the 5th track are pretty buried in the mix and not very present, but other than that, I can definitely feel the vibe that you're going for!

Nicely done. Reminds me of Silent Hill 2.
