Description
I imagine a 2d side view platformer. You are dropped into a discotech where you accidentally perform an illegal move and you're thrown into a prison within the disco. First you lure the guards in by doing amazing dance moves, and then fight your way out to freedom.
I made the entire soundtrack as one song but cut it up later. The cutup version with track titles is on soundcloud.
I used FL Studio.
It's 7 minutes and 50 seconds long total.
Message from the artist
This was a lot of fun, thanks.
Theme

How does it fit the theme?
I feel like I had it in mind the entire time while creating the soundtrack. I imagine the lady at the end of the game, finally tasting freedom.

The whole vibe totally worked on me ! It makes me think of the craziness from "Hifi Rush". It's fun and original, good one ! :)
thank you! i can see (hear) the comparison!
There's some interesting ideas here and with some more fleshing out I think they could all each be great, but the melodies got repetitive pretty fast and felt a bit tonally confusing. I do like the way each song transitioned into each other, that was cool though.
🤝🏼🤝🏼🤝🏼
I like the silliness of this, the wobbly bass at "Boss Battle". The sample looping itself and stuttering in "Escape The Discotech" is also a good touch,
the acoustic drums are also cool.
thank you very much!
Some nice work done here! Great sounds, great ideas!
I think it needs variation, particularly in the drum track i think would help.
Nice work!
Thanks. I agree. I should have shortened certain sections for sure.
The melodies get a little samey, but I really loved the bitcrushed strings in Dance or Die, great touch. I think just a bit more variation in the chords or key would make this even more funkier. Love your use of effects too, and your basslines are really catchy. The cleaner drums in Esc ape the Discotech are really refreshing too.
Thank you thank you. I really felt like it was time for drums to come out clean and filterless to switch up a bit. Thanks again.
the motifs that linger throughout some of tracks are so unusual and quirky, that they keep the cohesion of the soundtrack and even make for a fascinating atmosphere change when they are omitted or altered drastically. nicely done!! ^_^
i'm envisioning these tracks to be rather appropriate as overworld themes for Everhood... overall, i really like the motif that was prominent in "Main Menu" and "Dropped In"; a strong first impression for the videogame concept! i'd love some more intensity partway through for tracks like "Boss Battle", but otherwise conceptually the tracks work well in conveying different stages of the game.
Thank you! Yeah. I wanted more too but I was outtttaaaaaa time babbbyyyyyy
Some quirky and funky rhythms and grooves at play here. Choice of instruments and voicings was great to support this direction. Keeping it consistent throughout which I can respect, though I think some more patches and instruments would have been nice to divide up the album as a whole. Either way, it remains cohesive as some others have mentioned and ultimately all fits together pretty well.
I think my favorite of the bunch is Dropped In, despite the Main Menu theme opening with the same kind of groove. Something about the tempo and sparser mix in this just does it for me - it really feels like something I might hear on an early SNES title. Good work!
thank you. I used my new favorite plugin super audio cart for that melody. It was built by recording all the og console actual sound chips. I truly love it.
Great work!
Some of these felt a bit repetative, but they felt really cohesive throughout. I really enjoyed the percussion used in some tracks, it gave a really fun vibe to it next to some funky synthlines, nicely made.
My personal favorite track is "Free at last". It feels like the natural endpoint of the style and it's a whole lot of fun to listen to!

thank ya thank ya
This was a ton of fun to listen to!
I'd have to say that the Main Menu and Boss Battle themes were probably my favorites, but the whole submission had such a cool vibe to it.
Thanks for sharing this, and keep up the good work :)
I liked the whimsical-ness of this OST, and it's always good to listen to tracks that use motifs established earlier in the OST. Dance or Die was my favorite. Good job!
I do love how irregular the tracks are in this, pretty good OST here!
I like Free At Last a lot!
it felt like a true “freedom” happy yet accomplished type end theme
You definitely sampled the Mario 64 DS minigames right? Like the first song is like straight the theme from Luigi's Casino but edited?
I don't mind that its sampled but I couldn't find anywhere you saying that's what it was.
I also wish you had explained more how it fits the freedom theme more because as is it doesn't seem to fit the theme very well outside of the vibe somewhat.
freedom from the disco prison!!!
I tried. Lol.
ha you have an ear for the classics. Really just the same main melody and only two bars then the next is the opposite instead of going up it goes down, then loops. It was stuck in my head so I reimagined or reinterpreted it.
Sooooo... It's chiptune time!
Main Menu - WAI! Why does that sound SO cute? This topic sounds like the main menu that I wouldn't leave when I was a kid.
Dropped In - BASS!
Dance or Die - ACID BASS! And by the way, I noticed how much I really like that creaky sound that's present in all the tracks, huh.
Boss Battle is a Creaky boss!
Escape The Discotech - But I don't want to leave the disco... I had fun! (I also really like this overdriven guitar. How did you make it?). DAMN THOSE DRUMS!! WAAAH!!!
Free At Last - bitkrash church choir? A cute trombone? Cool! (And I also really like the beat)
Overall, I liked your pitch! Especially the sound!
P.S. Rawr
hey that was an amazing write up lol.
Cute trombone was cello.
guitar is
Electric, spliced, ran into about 3 effects lol.
Escape is my fav. I felt like daft punk for second.
The way it starts instantly grabbed my attention and in general whenever another part of the soundtrack started it left a cool feeling with it.
Overall, it kept me engaged all the way through and fits perfectly with the disco-prison-escape aesthetic. Great job!
aw thank you very much!
